My kids all got a series of $2 bills from their grandfather when they were young...c 1965.
So, if they still have them, are the $2 bills still legal tender?
$2 bills are more scarce then hen’s teeth. I hope your kiddos keep them and resist the urge to spend them. My grandpa gave me a roll of pennies, nickles, dimes and quarters back in the early 1940’s. Found them in my mom’s stuff when she died back in 2005. So happy and surprised that she had kept them all these years. They will go to my grandsons when I’m gone but not before! Don’t want them to be tempted to sell them to a coin collector.
Those particular bills could be worth more than the $2 face value. The $2 bill went away in 1963, and didn't re-emerge until 1976. Your kids' bills are United States Notes, and bear Monticello on the back, rather than the Signing of the Declaration of Independence.
