What we hear and read in Matt's essays is the deep research he has done to write his books focused so well on our times. What he shares in non-fiction is, I think, a accumulation of what he has studied in depth.

Prescience comes from studying History, distant and recent. Human’s are basically creatures of habit. The lust for power over all usually manifests in the same ways throughout History and Matt has discerned the patterns. America is already seeing the water leave the shore, so we are already in a pattern which will not be stopped by magic thinking ...
