Trump for the same reason
2008 Fred Thompson
2012 Virgil Goode
2016 - been on the Trump Train since he announced, but also liked Cain and Walker and Jindal in that order.
I haven’t liked Cruz and thought he was a phoney for over a year.
2008: Duncan Hunter
2012: Rick Santorum
2016: I thought Cruz from the get-go (smart and conservative). I don’t like the way his campaign is run: TRUMP-America First
2008 didn’t have anyone to choose from that I was really for except Sarah so McCain.
2012, wanted Gingrich to beat Romney then hoped Romney would beat Obama.
2016 Trump.
2012: Herman Cain until he crashed and burned and then Rick Santorum. All the governors seemed weirdly unqualified as if while governing their states they were trying to prove how awful they would be as president.
2008: Tancredo. Fred Thompson was behaving early on the same way that Ben Carson did in this election cycle.
2008 - Duncan Hunter
2012 - terrible field, no preference
2016 - I thought I’d be supporting Cruz; quickly shifted to Trump. Don’t want Ted for dogcatcher now.
You nailed it, FRiend. Particularly disheartening were the “Get me a cherry slushie, Bobby” comments here on FR.
2008 Thompson
2012 Newt
2016 Cruz till maybe second debate then it became clear as Zeiss.....Trump....he’s one of a kind
And Cruz looks bad frankly....
Cruz is only 45....his time has passed my ass.....he can run plenty more times
Fatalist much?
Cruz needs to work on not sounding stilted and over rehearsed
I admit it’s hard to do facing the Mouth of Manhattan who endears people just saying what he actually thinks rather than being solely guided by pros and campaigns
Trump is better being himself
Isn’t it weird how an old Ex POTUS candidate Giuliani is so much more likable now than as back in his Pitbull prosecutor days
I was in Manhattan then and he had little charisma
Now 25 years later and I always keep to tuned to hear him opine
Me too....same realization
Ditto his Islam rhetoric
2016...Walker, Cruz/Trump (didn’t know a lot about any of them, first glance.)
Lol. Calm down. I meant his time for this election has passed. I’m still very proud he is my Senator.
In 2008: I had no preference other than to defeat Hillary or Obama.
I held my nose and voted McCain. I loved Sarah Palin.
In 2012: I voted to defeat Obama, held my nose and voted for a ham sandwich with mustard, and I hate mustard on ham. I thought any ham sandwich would beat Obama in 2012.
In 2016: Before the field was established, I was hoping Scott Walker would get into the race and support him. That was an abysmal failure to watch which pointed me towards Cruz or Trump. After watching Iowa and subsequent campaigns, I realized Cruz was a slimeball and went with Trump all the way.
Interesting, a lot of early Trump supporters like you and I were walker fans.
2008, I guess Thompson was the best, it was crystal clear he was going nowhere though. When it came time for me to vote I was faced with 3 prize turds, McCain, Romney, and Huckabee (plus another turd, Paul, in distant 4th place), don’t shoot me, I chose Romney. I still would, over those other 2, whom I detest. I suppose you might say Huckabee was the best of the 3 on paper, but after what he’s done recently, selling fake diabetes cures, I’m glad I didn’t vote for him. He was near the bottom of my list for 2016. The guy whom I wanted to run was Mark Sanford, haha.
2012, I liked Herman Cain but he ran a poor race (999 myopia) and then got lynched. Santorum became my choice simply by default, a Senator who lost by almost 20 points is a poor choice but a better one than Romney and Newt (honestly, Newt is worse than Romney AFAIC, he may be the biggest egomaniac in American politics and that is saying A LOT). In hindsight I get why so many here chose Perry, though I was no fan of him at the time, I’m still not but he’s a helluva a lot better than some choices.
2016: Donald Trump was far from my first choice but it could be worse, I guess. Whataygonnado, youse guys outvoted me
1)Walker 2)Cruz (voted for, supported 100% till the end would still vote for if I was a delegate) 3)Jindal 4)Rubio 5)Fiorina
is how I would rank them.
I have mostly negative options of the others (I like Carson ok but he’s not qualified and I think Clinton would have eaten him alive, so where to rank him? It’s hard and there’s no point anyway).
At the very bottom of the list, I’d have to put Lindsay Graham, on paper he’s more conservative than some of the others but.....I honestly think he may be psychotic, and he’s so annoying and while I wouldn’t be certain he’s a homo, there’s a good chance and THAT kind of scandal is the last thing we need.
All of them are better than Hillary and as much as I frankly loathe some of them, I’d have supported ANY of them if they were nominated, imo there simply is no realistic alternative if you care about the country. Hillary=Nazi Supreme Court=We’re screwed for SURE.
I’ve been a Cruzer but Walker was also my first choice. And he was the first choice of several of my (also Cruzer) FRiends.
Doing a GREAT job as Governor crushing the public employees unions, winning election in a swing/slight dem state. No brainer first preference for me. Unfortunately he bombed out. I’m still not sure what happened. He’s not flashy in year when that mattered A couple other candidates started maliciously lying about him. Ultimately he was being too cautious and then his money decided to bail? I hope he runs for the Senate in 2018 (if he’s not elected VP, he’d be my first choice for that) and beats the lesbian.
I took to Trump from the beginning. For some reason, like millions of others, I never wavered, switched or has second guesses.
I don’t think he’s cut out for dealing with media on that level, kind of like Rick Perry. He’d make a great senator. I hope to see him in the Senate soon.
Trump may consider him for VP though I’m becoming resigned to the fact that it’s going to be Rubio. Yes lots of Florida hates Rubio(as do I) but the guy is massively popular with women and this election is going to be a gender war.
I’d love to see Jeff Sessions or Walker as the VP.
