Well that’s about the size of it...... Pilgrim....
“”””He had disturbing views toward race,” said Assemblyman Luis Alejo (D-Watsonville), according to the Associated Press.”””
No, he had REALISTIC views towards race.
This bs needs to stop.
3 Mexican wives
Josephine Alicia Saenz, Esperanza Baur, and Pilar Pallete
Fluent in Spanish.
Yeah. Racist.
Luis Alejo (D-Watsonville) is a racist little *****. The moron probably doesn’t even have a clue who John Wayne is. Either that or he hates the Duke because he was an American.

Mexican is as much as a race as Canadian is.
Spanish is a white European Language
Just sayin’
Don’t need the gov’t to celebrate a John Wayne day.
Perhaps he is pampered. From Wikipedia:
Alejo graduated from the University of California, Berkeley with dual bachelor’s degrees in political science and Chicano studies, and obtained his master’s of education degree from Harvard University in administration, planning and social policy.

Wayne was saying that blacks needed to become more educated and have a sense of duty to the country in order to run for office. These comments aren't racist, unless your viewing them through the prism of Al Sharpton: Look at the urban hellholes like Baltimore run by a black mayor. Detroit with Coleman Young, for example. Wayne's comments then were totally politically incorrect and harsh, but are they true?
Luis Alejo probably a member of La Raza, denounced Wayne as a crazy Gringo who should have been kicked out of Atzlan a long time ago.
In other words, he got a degree in Community Agitating. Must be a real dirtbag.
John Wayne Day is gonna be May 5th this year...
***In a 1971 interview with Playboy, Wayne called black people “irresponsible” and said Native Americans were “selfish” for not wanting to share their land with white colonists***
I read that interview while sitting in a barber shop back in 1971. John Wayne was SPOT ON!
He even mentioned the discussion between Goldwater and Johnson over Viet Nam in which Goldwater said if he was elected he would send troops to South Vietnam. Johnson said he would NOT send troops. Goldwater spoke to Johnson and said...”You know we will have to send troops to Vietnam!” Johnson’s reply was “I know Barry, but I am out to win an election!”
He also spent millions in Mexico making movies around the Durango area. I read that in the 1980s the people of Durango wished the movie industry would come back. They miss John Wayne.
Perhaps we should just give California back to Mexico? We can charge them as I believe we paid for it a long time ago, and then use the money to build a wall to keep new illegals out of the rest of this country.
I think we should deport you.
I looked up that interview and read the whole thing. If a little gruff here and there, so what? Wayne was right in virtually every point he made. He was a well educated man.
I wish he might have mentioned “Island In The Sky”. It’s a truly great film that I think embodies most of his philosophy of life. As a matter of fact, I’m going to watch it again right now.
God, I miss him.
If you ever find yourself disagreeing with John Wayne, know that you are wrong.
