Romney spent the 2012 primary campaign season trashing Republicans. He spent the 2012 general campaign season treating 0b0la with kid gloves.
Trump has spent most (it’s not over) of the 2016 primary campaign season trashing Republicans.

Well, in his defense, so have I for much longer. But Trump also saved his most venomous attacks for the most conservative candidate, because it was apparent that Cruz was his biggest obstacle to the nomination.
If Trump’s supporters demanded and expected more from him, he would have solidified his conservative positions and won over more Cruz supporters. Instead Trump and his supporters seem determined to alienate the most essential voting constituency the Republicans have.
Conservatives are angry because of being taken for granted by the GOPe and Rinos for years and years. And apparently Trump and his supporters think this is a winning formula for Trump.
Worked so well for McCain and Romney.
How about running on a solidly conservative platform. And make a case for conservatism. It works when people actually try it.
