The story of a young Jewish boy in Bologna, Italy in 1858 who, having been secretly baptized, is forcibly taken from his family to be raised as a Christian. His parents struggle to free their son becomes part of a larger political battle that pits the Papacy against forces of democracy and Italian unification.

Well, this flick should do a lot to bring people together.
Well, that’s good. I’m glad they were able to find a story to fit the “Christians do bad things too” meme that Obama pushes every time the Muslims set fire to a bunch of children.
If it’s so damned fascinating why wasn’t the story told earlier. I’m sure that Spielberg can find something more exciting to film.
How about Jews endorsing the nailing of Jesus to a cross after beating Him almost to death.
Oh, no. Mel Gibson did that one and I find priests still endorsing the movie from the pulpit even though we have no idea where Mel is today.

No matter how notorious it was, he ended up living a very long and happy life as a Catholic priest.
In the 1880s he re-developed relationships with his mother and other family members. Some relatives did not want to know him, however, since he remained a Catholic.
