Lightning has struck twice in the Burg ... it could happen thrice.

I heard the first two periods of last night's game looked ugly on television for the Bolts. I can tell you it looked a whole lot uglier live. They were real sharp until the first goal was taken away from them and from that point on, they didn't execute. Third period saw them wake up but by then it was too late.
The Pens were solid. They were disciplined, didn't commit penalties and their passing was always on stick. That said, I am absolutely convinced that the league plays a role in how these games are called because the last two games have had abysmal officiating, and last night it became flagrantly obvious that the Bolts will have to beat the officials as well as the Pens. I have only heard the rumors about league influence but with two small market teams looking to go to the finals, the league must be petrified by the potential lost revenue.
Lightning have played better away than at home so I hope that holds true for game 7.

When the Sharks are on, they are impossible to beat. But like the Lightning, they are a hot and cold team and seem to lose focus at home. Like Pittsburgh, their forechecking is exceptional and keeps the game in the offensive zone. I’ve been an avid fan of the NHL for more than 40 years and I can’t remember a team with a better power play than SJ. They are a lot of fun to watch.

As it got nearer to game time, I was thinking maybe the Penguins had a chance, so ditto, look for St. Louis to come out strong. (watch, I’ll be wrong but so?)

Wow. I need oxygen. What a game. Tampa was a worthy opponent, however the Pens prevailed. Onwards to the cup!

WOW what a game! Tampa was tough, fighting to the end. With all their young players they will be back in the hunt next year.
Cup finals start Monday here in Pittsburgh! San Jose looks really good and will be rested. Rest up Penguins, they left everything on the ice tonight and need to refill the tank.

They saved the best game of the series for last (as it should be). Congratulations and good luck in the finals. Although I’m disappointed the Bolts won’t be there for the second year in a row, I look forward to seeing the finals. The Sharks and Pens match up nicely with two styles that should make for a great series.

And second periods, apparently.
We'll see how penguins fare against sharks. They'd better be fast.

No dog in this hunt, since I dislike 3 of the 4 that made it to the conference series, and the Bolts failed to make it past the Penguins.
Holing my nose and saying Go Sharks! Should be some good hockey.
