We frequently discuss bad kills by law enforcement on this forum so when I saw this I knew it needed to be posted as a prime example of sometimes lawmen have to think fast. The lady had already chopped on a Sumner county deputy who called for backup
Of course her family said she was a wonderful and loving mother and she may well have been but she was nuts to charge a gun drawn cop like that while she was armed with a battle axe reproduction
I assume Gallatin cops and Sumner county released this pronto to stave off the usual agitators
Gallatin is a small mostly lower to middle income community north east of Nashville about 25 miles from downtown Music City
It borders Old Hickory Lake and the Cumberland River where the rich reside
The town has significant historical history mostly from the War Between the States
Hendersonville a more upscale community is due west
The minority demographics are around 20% black and 5% Latino which is maybe the highest of any suburban Nashville community I can think of
Anyhow pity for her family but the cop did what he had to do in my view fwiw
I wielded an Ace one time and thought I was going to be killed. It was just a poker game though.

Well, anybody who was a teenager in the eastern half of the USA during the 60’s and 70’s ought to remember Gallatin TN as the home of Randy’s Record Shop, sponsor of a nightly program on powerhouse radio station WLAC of Nashville. If you went to school one morning and didn’t know what records had been played on that show the night before, you probably wouldn’t want to sit at the cool kids table in the cafeteria!
That girl was little. Just saying. I would have made her eat that axe. Shoot her? Nah.
There are some serious wicked evil psychos out there. Usually they belong to the protected specie. The other time a demented woman started being upset at the convenience store about something and started screaming and storming out the place thrashing food and bottles on shelves and no one dared to tell her to stop.
That’s a whole ‘nother kind of stupid there.
Maybe they meant the cop had an Ace with the Glock which trumped her axe which is held by the King.
That’s a good shoot.
The officer told her to drop her weapon, and she didn’t; the officer backed up (retreated) and she continued on toward him with a lethal weapon, and in a threatening manner. Looks like a justified shoot to me.
She had already stabbed one policeman, the one who shot her was answering the “officer down” call.
:) :) :)
Yeah. Look whatever. Legally no question. But damn she is a little bitty thing. I would be more scared of her if she had a knife than that thing. Put her on the ground knock her silly and move on. If she had a knife no thank you.
And she didn’t stab anyone. She chopped a cop. Probably left a little red spot.
Then don’t get a high end Kindle. I’m typing on one now and it’s incredibly hard to get it to leave certain words alone. Indeed, it’s autospell is a pure curse.
She did have a knife, it was what she used to stab the first cop. She had it in her pants.
Its pop now almost totally
It really sucks. And Merle passing just drives that home.
I think there’s country gold in that title, if we can use the tune to “Red Neck Woman”:
Ah’m an axe-weildin’ woe-mun,
Ain’t no gun totin’ moll.
I’ll chop on a poe-lice-man,
Then run stray-ay-aight at y’all...
When I get a splodey head full,
I think ah’m bullet proof.
Now ah’ve got real bad lead pois’nin’
An’ a’hm finished with this spoof...
That works for me. :)
My only concern is that the moment he decided to shoot put his fellow officers, who were positioned behind her, in direct crossfire. If he had any expectation of shooting, then he needs to use situational awareness to frame his target better by backing up in a different direction. I understand heat of the moment, but still you need to control your surroundings.
Ive never nor never will be a cop
But I thought legit kills need to be shown given we all dwell on the contrary here
I sure do
I’ve been shot once
I’ve returned fire twice but at distances who knows
I’ve drawn my weapon twice to save my ass without having to use it
I’m no William Purvis or Recon Ranger
