.. Byron, I have never taken a selfie in my life but I will admit to being a contrarian at times. I just want a good reason to trust someone ..

No you don't.

You just want to make the election about your feelings.

I'm going to give this one more try. Partly I guess because I've been to your (former?) homeland more times than I can recall and have a soft spot for all things Aussie.

The following have nothing to do with my "feelings":

I want a president who understands and will adhere to the limitations of his or her office and the Federal Government in general as outlined in the U.S. Constitution. I have seen little or no evidence that Donald Trump understands those limits or would honor them if he did. Quite the opposite. We've had one wannabe king by executive order. I do not want another.

Another country starting with the letter A that I've spent time in is Argentina. People who call Trump a Hitler are ignorant and stupid. One thing about him I find very appealing is his regard for Israel and the Jews. And by all accounts he is a very different person in private than in public. But if he and his movement can be compared with anything from the twentieth century it is Peronism, a mix of bombastic populism and extreme economic protectionism. I have pointed out in comments that as an international trader I see tariffs as a useful tool but one that must be used carefully and in limited circumstances without distorting an economy and making things worse for all. Border wall, deportation, and strict enforcement of immigration law? Great. Tariffs on imports from currency manipulators like the PRC? Wonderful. Unleash our warriors and give them the equipment they need? Even better. If I thought any of it from Trump was more than hot air I'd be on board. But I don't and am not.

The next reservation I have about Trump may border on "feelings". He gives me the sense of someone who's compensating. It's the bombast, total lack of humility, or any evident sense of humor about himself. I've known businessmen who behaved that way and could never bring myself to trust them. His thin skin reactions on Twitter and what seems for all the world to be a mean streak toward women is disturbing. I'd love to put a genuine businessman into the presidency. Show me a Jack Welch and I'd put him in the White House in a New York minute. But Donald Trump? Sorry, but no thanks.

Now, will I vote for him if he's on the ballot opposite Clinton or Sanders? I would. And I'd hope you'd do the same if it turns out the name isn't Donald Trump.
