There's a Smidgen of Churchill in Trump [arthur march vanity]

Posted on 03/29/2016 7:37:29 AM PDT by Arthur Wildfire! March

Winston Churchill sounded the alarm -- Hitler was dangerous and his movement could have been strangled in its infancy.

Now we have a vindicated Donald Trump.

While not even close to 'the next Churchill' at this moment, he did accurately sound the alarm --

Europe is in danger.

The Brussel's attack made him appear downright prophetic, espcially since the New York Times had mocked him specifically about Brussels being a hellhole.

Rush Limbaugh pointed that out yesterday [much to the ire of Cruz supporters]. Rush even made the point of adding that the Establishment views Europe as a fairy wonderland even though places like Paris and Brussels are trashed [by muslims who refuse to assimilate].

~~~
Churchill and Allies
Lobbing verbal grenades at your allies probably seems very 'un-Churchill-like' to many I suspect.
Regarding Trump wanting allies to pay more, someone pointed out to me:
'It's a lot more than just revenue flow Arthur.....'
These moments often tickle me not only because geopolitics is one of my interests but also because 'luck' often brings me useful information in advance.
Sometimes the Lord helps when you pray for guidance.
A few weeks ago I found a history book for $1 at a discount store:
"Pearl Harbor Christmas" by Stanley Weintraub.
Prior to Pearl Harbor, Churchill had no choice but to meekly beg FDR for aid. And the President had to finesse his assistance due to massive anti-war sentiment and a weak economy.
Digressing a moment: Nazis were probably the prime catalysts of our anti-war movement. Without their meddling, we would have been more united and better prepared -- countless lives saved. The new anti-war ring leaders could arguably be the Saudi Prince Alwaleed [who has enormous influence over FoxNews and other media] and Soros [the ultimate globalist].
So there was Winston Churchill, hand-in-hat, beggging us for aid.
Then came Pearl Harbor.
Churchill held a secret 'strategy' session -- how to handle negotiations with FDR.*
His advisors recommended that they simply repeat their requests with no deviation.
Sir Allen Brooke noticed the Prime Minister's reaction: "a wicked gleam in his eye".
"Oh!" said Churchill, "That is the way we talked to her while we were wooing her; now that she's in the harem we talk to her quite differently."
~~~

Winston Churchill meets 'Art of the Deal'. Treating her like she's 'part of the harem' counts triple when you are the dominant ally who is further from danger.

[Many of you 'get it' already. But for those who don't yet I'll lay it out.]

Back when we produced half the world's GDP we could afford to be generous. No longer.

Just as the British Empire strained her resources fighting off the world's greatest earthly evils, now we appear to be in the same situation.

While it is Keynesian economics that have sunk us and Europe and Japan into debt, US bond interest rates will improve more quickly if we shed off our cavalier attitude toward spending.

So Trump can kill two birds with one stone:

Help restore faith in US bonds and prod our allies into bearing more of the defense costs.

And there's a third winged target in the sky: negotiation leverage.

Our allies could appease Trump through better tariff rates and trade alliances which help the USA.

~~~
"But the alliances will fall apart!"
That has been the fear.
But Trump puts the monkey on their backs and goads them into self-awareness. It exposes the flaws in their own economies as well.
We've been the sugar daddy for far too long, the enabler of riotous living. It is time for Europe to get working again and sort out its flawed priorities.
~~~

Conclusion:

Even if Trump had not calculated everything the way I just did, his overall strategy works for itself. Putting other nations on the defensive gives you 'center control' of the chess board.

There is a time to be friendly toward other nations. But one must be dynamic, willing to shift perspective.

Only a corrupt government sits idle like our ships at Pearl Harbor. They have all the time in the world to scheme.

Current diplomats already panic at the thought of how to hold our 'frayed alliances' together under Trump. They vow to resign and should do so when he's elected.

~~~
I apologize, but I couldn’t resist the opportunity.
Some politician in the UK just got arrested for quoting Churchill’s writings on Mohammedism.
British politician arrested for publicly repeating Churchill’s comments on Islam
A candidate in the European elections was arrested on suspicion of racial harrassment after quoting a passage about Islam, written by Winston Churchill, during a campaign speech.
Paul Weston, chairman of the party Liberty GB, made the address on the steps of Winchester Guildhall, in Hampshire on Saturday. A member of the public took offence at the quote, taken from Churchill’s The River War and called police.
Interesting. Would you apply the same reasoning for Cruz?
I've been to Belgium and Trump's right: Brussels is a hell-hole.
When I was last there (2006) I experienced several days of "immigrants rights" marches filled with muslims. Anti-immigration marches were also plentiful, some run by neo-Nazi groups.
The streets of Brussels were dirty (garbage blowing down most streets) and honestly, I didn't feel safe.
Now, if you want to see an even BIGGER hell-hole, visit Rotterdam in the Netherlands. Virtually the entire city has been taken over by muslims and is one big no-go zone. Sharia law is the rule of the day there, and if you're a woman who makes the "mistake" of not wearing a hijab (whether or not she's a muslim) she risks getting a serious beating.
Amsterdam is also no longer the liberal paradise it used to be with its red light district, women in the windows and pot shops. Muslims are definitely having an effect there too.
I agree! Trump is just like Churchill...minus wit, eloquence, intelligence, and class.
Trump also sounded the alarm on Osama Bin Ladin before 9/11.
Churchill was half American as his mother was American. Strange it is that back when people obeyed the Constitution, nobody ever thought Churchill should be President of the United States!
Exactly! And then after the war had been won and Britain was safe, the Brits dumped him for a socialist as Prime Minister. Then, they realized their mistake and he was chosen as Prime Minister again, old, tired, and ailing.
He has the guts to say things that no one else dares say.
That it in a nutshell...and that why you get attack and hated by all side....
they call it “politically correct” for a reason... it’s the correct thing to say politically for popularity
And its call “Politically Incorrect” for reason.....its not the correct thing to say to be politically popular or even personally popular or even to be polite...
But telling the blunt truth often get you hated by everyone
Trump tells blunt impolite truth .......
Cruz tells you the conservative party line ....its what you want to hear.. politicians do that
let’s face it we have our own conservative version of “politically correct”
and the conservatives that are all in love with Cruz they’re really saying is what he’s telling them is there perfect version conservative political correctness
The problem is Cruz never seems to deliver, and a lot of his backside connections seem totally inconsistent with it ...I believe it’s really just tell you the party line to get the votes
See Reagan was a conservative but really he was an American nationalist he did not a follow the Politically Correct party line conservatism
just as William F Buckley was a conservative but he alse follow the boys up best for the nation and did not follow the perfectly politically correct party line conservatism
otherwise Buckley and Reagan would have never debate at each other on opposite sides on issues like the Panama Canal....
See the term conservative itself really means “conservative relative to the current politics”... you’re not looking to change
and right now I’m looking for a radical change ....change for something that is pro the American Nation and benefit to the American people....
following the same course, the same old party line arc we been on would technically be “conservative” (conservative in the meaning of maintaining the status quo) ...but disaster for the US
we need to radically change directions to get back to where we’ve been to a place that was pro the America Nation and actually pro the American people
I read the 2011 “Time To Get Tough” and it was simple, direct, clearly explained and covered issues such as trade, immigration, really cutting gov costs/waste, getting people off of welfare. I remember one sentence about the best way to stop poverty - get married before having children. I read it very fast and lent it out and didn’t get it back yet! I want it back so I can lend again, plus I want to get his new book.
You have proved the cult of personality complex I have assigned to so many Trump supporters.
I will vote for him if it is Trump versus Sanders or Klinton. But be careful what you wish for FRiend.
"So, you WILL hesistate.(sic) You have proved the cult of personality complex I have assigned to so many Trump supporters."
All that has been proven (thus far) is that *you* are willing to make a snap judgement about my motives and reasoning from a single word.
The appropriate response to a terse comment like "No." is "Why?"
Instead you have presumed to indulge in psychoanalyzing me.
If you had instead taken the time to get to know the person with whom you are bantering,
you might have found some sound reasoning behind their statements
Perhaps like this.
You might also have found a very good reason for the exclusion of Cruz from consideration for "Churchill-like" status.
Like this.
By the way - I checked the list of folks who are allowed to assign cults and complexes and guess what?
You aint on it.
The difference is that Churchill held office. Trump can condemn American losing jobs to immigrants while he is simultaneously importing workers from overseas.
Right. He wants to cash in on more cheap labor with the border wall.
Your contempt of Trump is founded on patriotism shanghied by the Establshment.
Even though you are sailing in the wrong direction, God bless you.
Also, Trump’s concern over immigration is documented in his books all the way back to 2000.
