If you’re trying to pin the demise of the Carson candidacy on Trump, I suggest you go look at Ted Cruz’s good buddy, Amanda Carpenter’s tweets on Feb. 1, 2 full hours before the story “broke” on CNN, where she said Carson was suspending his campaign after Iowa.

It’s like he’s trying to 1984 the whole primary and blame everything done by Cruz on Trump. Deflection has left the building. Now its denial. I can’t wait until we get to acceptance.

The articles were published by the National Enquirer. They were timely hit pieces which left candidates using time and energy and money to refute the allegations. The only one to benefit was Pecker's buddy, Trump who suffered no such indignity.

Was she the source of the original tweet? I always thought the main fault in that imbroglio was Carson’s camp being unclear and Cruz’s being dumb.

But if one of Cruz’s alleged “mistresses” was the source, this takes on a much more sinister tone.
