In a hypothetical head-to-head scenario, Cruz bests Trump 48-41 percent.
In another hypothetical head-to-head, Rubio beats Trump narrowly, 46-45. If Rubio were to drop out of the race, his voters would go 3-to-1 for Ted Cruz, according to the survey.
71 percent of Republicans said they would support Donald Trump against Hillary Clinton in a general election. 9 percent said they will support Hillary Clinton, another 9 percent would not vote for either, 4 percent would choose other, and 7 percent are undecided about the hypothetical match up.
14 percent of those surveyed said they were undecided. 13 percent have already voted.
The Monmouth University poll also surveyed MIchigan residents for the Democratic primary there.
Hillary Clinton is beating Sen. Bernie Sanders (I-VT) in Michigan 55-42 percent, according to the poll.

A fair amount of speculation about head to head???
Rubio needs to do the right thing.
I’m looking forward to Ted Cruz’s hypothetical presidency..
If my Aunt had a penis she’d be my uncle. If Joe Montana was still playing for the 49ers they would win 23 super Bowls. If Hitler would not have attacked Russia. If Tesla would have been able to finish his work, we’d have time machines right now.....
OK, assuming true, but so what? Isn’t the Michigan primary tomorrow? It’s not going to be a head-to-head matchup.
He can't. He and Kasich have to stay in for the brokered convention plan to work.
Rubio? Right thing?
Every time there is something positive about Trump there is always a ‘but’ attached to it.
It’s not enough we have polls of questionable accuracy. The problem is now compounded by introducing polls of hypotheticals. All public polls are to push an agenda or a message. The hypotheticals just make that messaging more overt. It’s a way to wrap up a bit of agitprop in the gauze of something that would appear to be scientific. “Why it’s not our opinion, it’s a poll!”
Woulda shoulda coulda. Making excuses for Cruz already. Some momentum.
Seppuku?
Maybe that is because Trump is a butt...
If I had married IVANKA I’d be set for life!
Middle school comments aside, do you expect all three to stay in the race until the convention? If not, and either Cruz or Rubio drop out, what do you expect to become of the delegates they have today?
Fact Cruz is a lawyer and is backed by crazy Glenn Beck. Fact Cruz can’t work with anyone in the senate. And my team could have won the Super Boulder in we had Denver’s D.
Simply more supporting evidence of my “low second choice poll numbers” problem I have with Trump, that I am told is meaningless...
Rubio isn’t going anywhere until the 15th, and if he pulls out Florida, he’s around until at least 4/26 by my estimations short of a back room deal.
Rubio needs to do the exit stage right thing.
True on all counts. So sick of Cruz. Good lord. The guy couldn’t win the South! The SOUTH!!!!!! He’s won 2 primaries and little attended caucus’. So sick of this crap. I expect trump trashing during the general but not now to this extent.
