Decorated veterans are going after Donald Trump’s character in hard-hitting new Florida ads designed to drive down the Republican presidential front-runner’s popularity to stop him winning the crucial winner-take-all state on March 15.
In new attack ads, released by conservative nonprofit American Future Fund within a multimillion-dollar rotation, two veterans, Afghanistan Special Forces Commander Lt. Col. Michael Waltz and retired Vietnam pilot and prisoner of war Lt. Col. Tom Hanton, hit Trump for dodging the draft in Vietnam, “serving only himself,” and for criticizing Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) for being captured during the Vietnam War.
American Future Fund spokesman Stuart Roy said in an email to The Hill Saturday that the group is swapping out its current ads in the Florida Panhandle for the new veteran ads and said it "will be adding new money there on Monday, as well."
“The Panhandle is full of active and retired military. Think Eglin Air Force Base, Pensacola Naval Air Station, Hulburt Field, Naval Support Activity Panama City, and Tyndall Air Force Base.”
In one of the ads, Waltz tells viewers to put a stop Trump's campaign.
“Donald Trump hasn’t served this country a day in his life, essentially dodged the draft in Vietnam through multiple deferments,” Waltz says, speaking directly into the camera. “All Donald Trump has served is himself. Don’t let Donald Trump fool you. Look into his real record and stop Trump now."

Problem is Trump was in MILITARY SCHOOL not a regular college. They did a heck of a lot of marching, and Trump had no foot issues until he was reclassified as draft able.
wideawake won’t be providing any proof for her claim that:
“He lied about having bone spurs to avoid the draft.”
Because there is no proof.
Trump received four 2S deferrals while he was a student, one a year from 1964 to 1968.
When he graduated in 1968 he was reclassified 1-A.
Shortly after that he was reclassified 1-Y, available to be drafted in a national emergency.
No doctor ever gave a Trump a letter declaring him unfit for service. That is simply a lie being propagated by some Trump haters.
The lowest rating Trump received was 1-Y. He remained 1-Y until 1972 when the Selective Service itself abolished the 1-Y class and reclassified all 1-Ys as 4-F.
Did doctors write these fraudulent notes for all their patients who asked, or just the wealthy ones?

You never took a draft physical did you? It was a pretty thorough exam. No notes from doctors. They checked everything. They didn’t take notes from doctors. They examined you!
I was classified 1Y after my draft exam, and they wouldn’t tell me why. Something to do with my heart I guess. One of my buddies had bone spurs in his feet. That messed him up. Surgery. He could never have done boot camp. Someone said Trump should have undergone surgery and enlisted. Forced surgery? Ridiculous!

I gave up my student deferment voluntarily to join the Navy and wound up in Vietnam! Was not because of grades either, my lowest grade was a B! Just felt like I needed to do my part!
I am not a Trump supporter by any means but he had legitimate student and physical deferments!
The first draft lottery included everyone between 18 and 26 who had previously not been drafted. Subsequent lotteries only applied to 18 year olds. The first pool was significantly larger than any other.
Trump had 1S student deferments like every student who made the damn grades in college. That is not draft dodging. Trump did had a bone spur, but; his lottery number that was standard by 68-69 was so high he had no chance of being drafted. This damn LTC is a Reserve Army officer. There is a big difference in the combat training of active duty SF and reserve and NG. A damn reserve officer running his mouth.
McCain damn sure ran his mouth and he was treated much better then the other POWS as Hanoi thought of him as a prince. His father was the commander of all forces in the pacific. His father was like Gen. Giap’s counterpart.

He wasn’t. Going after anyone who had draft deferments as a dodger is offensive revisionism.
Draft dodging was a real thing and it wasn’t what these guys are claiming.
