America stopped being great in the ‘70s.
We left Vietnam without winning. It’s had some high points since especially during Reagan, but that really set the tone for America never really winning.
The hippies.

When politics stopped being about selecting the best person for a job.
The best person was the person who could get the most effective and efficient use out of every hard-earned tax dollar.

When did the word “but” take over the world? 17 buts in this piece, 9 of them starting off a sentence.

I remember it. These were very popular.

It started in the mid-60's, after we got rich, fat, and happy in the 50's. We were fading fast in 1980, but Reagan bought us another 25 years - albeit by planting the terrible idea in DC's head that deficit spending was OK if there was a higher goal to achieve ("defeating the Soviets" became "saving the children" - and that was it.) Clinton weakened us further, the dot-com boom/crash spoiled a generation of American workers, then 9/11 broke us.
I have a feeling Obama has been paying off our enemies not to launch terrorist attacks on our soil during his term.

There were so many things, but the one that strikes me is re-electing Clinton. Things seemed relatively normal, even prosperous for several years after, but that was the turning point.

When did America stop being great? The peak was Reagan's defeat of the Soviet Union in the cold war and the collapse of communism. It's been downhill ever since, thanks to the growth of libtardism.

We were basically done by the late 1960s, but we still had a pulse. Today, we are flat-lining.
