The list weve lost: Bush, Carson, Christie, Fiorina, Gilmore, Graham, Huckabee, Pataki, Paul, Santorum (and others earlier, such as Walker) includes some very good men, several of whom would have been good presidents but were ineffective campaigners. All we need to do is add Rubio and Kasich to that list, and Ill be happy no matter what the outcome.
Ill miss Carson. I hope he will stay involved and in the news. The establishment and the media have a say in whether he will succeed, and I hope they will make the right choice. I am not optimistic.
I remember how frustrating it was when we had 17 candidates. The other side was right when they called our primary a ‘clown car’.
It was ridiculous. Most of those people had no business running, because they never stood a chance. Their only reason for being in the race was to split votes away from anyone not named Bush.
Personally, I think the nominating contest was over last summer. Everything we’ve endured since then has been an exercise in fighting gravity. It’s just my view, but in my observation, the clear will of the Republican electorate has been expressing itself since before the first ballot was cast.
