I don't mean to patronize you, Fred - but I was cross-referencing The Silmarillion with my collection of first edition CJR tomes.

Now, if you're a "brilliant" and "educated" reader as you purport to be, that particular reference is easily explained.

So, explain it. In under ten minutes. :)
