1-The FBI HAD access to all the data they wanted, but LOCKED THEMSELVES OUT!
2-The FBI is LYING when they assert they only want access to this one phone.
3-The FBI insists on having the code to unlock the device. (actually, the code to prevent the phone from locking after 10 unsuccessful password attempts).
4-Once the FBI has that ability, it can AND WILL use it on any iPhone they please.
5-The FBI has 12 OTHER iPhones they want access to, waiting in the wings.
6-New York City has 175!!!!!!!
Snowden, is that you?
An intriguing thought, just that the patch would only allow unlimited guesses at the passcode on the phone, and only work on old devices. The ones who are drooling over this patch are those in China, Iran, Pakistan, and Saudi Arabia, as the phones are more common in those locations, and prosecuting dissenters, Christians and others are a much higher priority.
This guy Tim Cook is acting as though he is the Governor of the State of Apple.
The government lets the terrorists in. Then the terrorists do what terrorists do and then the government wants to violate our rights because of the actions of the terrorists they let in the country. No way we should let them do it.
Wasn’t one of the shooters a government employee. Perhaps the Apple kabuki theater is to obscure that fact. How many terrorists are in the employ of governments at all levels.
Hahaha...I was going to come in, fists swinging (figuratively speaking!)
If you want to blame somebody, blame the Founding Fathers. They're the brainiacs who came to the brilliant conclusion that a nation that values safety over Liberty will end up with neither.
Stupid 4th Amendment.
P.S. If this is all it takes to fight terrorism, what are we doing throwing tens of billions of dollars at The FIB every year? Trust me. They know everything they need to know about Farooq's and Sashimi's accomplices.
This is about YOU.
Rumor has it that the FBI is offering Edward Snowden and Kevin Mitnick full pardons if they’ll crack an iPhone...
Sure. Just give FED.GOV power over everything.
I swear, this is SUCH a doomed country. When y'all walk to the gulag, I will be dead, with a pistol in my hand.
Well, I am glad you feel that way and wanted to share it with the world.
I wonder how your employees would feel if the government came into where you worked and commanded them to create a piece of work so that they could snoop on the people they want. Now this piece of work doesn’t exist. And, no they will not be compensated. And, by the way, all of the information they will get is readily available through other sources.
I know this sounds like BS from Apple. But sometimes we have to let some bad guys slip by in order to protect our citizens from government abuse. Some guy named Scalia wrote that.
Garbo lives again.
“All warfare is based on deception.
Hence, when able to attack, we must seem unable; when using our forces, we must seem inactive; when we are near, we must make the enemy believe we are far away; when far away, we must make him believe we are near.
Hold out baits to entice the enemy.
Feign disorder, and crush him.
â Sun Tzu, the Art of War”
The US Government has the BEST HACKERS money can buy, why do they need Apple to decode a password they changed? Even my step Daughter can jail break a IPHONE and she is just a IT professional with her own business. ROFLOL....Trump made his call on a IPHONE.
It seems the only folks who disagree with Apple are the ones who haven’t read Tim Cook’s public letter about it.
Also, what many seem to forget is that the fedgov was wanting this technology BEFORE San Bernadino happened.
If following leads to catch the Tangos of San Bernadino is so important:
a) Why let the media traipse through the home of the perps, handling evidence, etc?
b) Why is there a continuing policy of letting these types into the country?
c) Why isn’t everyone at the Islamic military safe house (aka mosque) under investigation?

My dumb question since I’m not an iphone user, Do iphones automatically update when apple updates it’s OS etc?
It is not Apples job to make the job of the FBI easier.
What is on the killer’s phone that is not available from provider’s phone records (numbers, time duration), GPS tracking records (location over time), emails (archiving) from internet providers???? NSA is supposed track terrorists!?!
All that can be acquired without having the physical phone.
It all looks like another version of going after the gun ban after random killing.
What is left of citizen’s privacy ???
You already pay for your phone that gives the almighty government free access to your private activity.
Yeah, freedom for terrorists, spying on citizens!
