1-The FBI HAD access to all the data they wanted, but LOCKED THEMSELVES OUT!
2-The FBI is LYING when they assert they only want access to this one phone.
3-The FBI insists on having the code to unlock the device. (actually, the code to prevent the phone from locking after 10 unsuccessful password attempts).
4-Once the FBI has that ability, it can AND WILL use it on any iPhone they please.
5-The FBI has 12 OTHER iPhones they want access to, waiting in the wings.
6-New York City has 175!!!!!!!

How about tossing his mother and the ones that were in the garage with them. I’d be surprised if there was anything on the company phone that would be of value.

Hi G Larry,

You speak truth. I’m not a conspiracy theorist, but I think it’s possible that the “unlocking” of this phone is a false flag. I believe the FBI has already retrieved all available information from the phone, and is using the horrendous acts in San Bernadino as an emotional reason to get a backdoor.

If it is truly information they seek, there are other alternatives available without conscripting service and mandating actions.

If they don’t have all information already, they should turn to the offer of John McAfee to hack into it. The fact they don’t, leads me to believe it’s not about the information, it’s about commanding compliance to enable spying.

Apple, call the FBI’s bluff: offer to go behind closed doors at Apple with the FBI’s hacking software, use the software to back the password, retrieve the data, all while the FBI waits outside and then give the data to the FBI and tell it to go away.

I believe that, through the NSA or other nefarious means, they have the full contents of every call, voice message, text, email, and web search/contact.

This is VERY illegal, as the NSA is only supposed to collect metadata, not content.

They cannot use this data without 'spilling the beans' and damning themselves.

They need Apple to knuckle under and give them cover as they use the illegally acquired data.

If you all go to Rush Limbaugh’s website, you will find his explanation of what is REALLY going on; and it’s not about privacy vs. terrorism.

When you purchase an iPhone (or any smart phone), you should find out how to set up your phone. The Fed office where the terrorists worked did not do that. They issued the phone without setting the MDM software. Setting this software is not Apple’s job. It’s the job of the PERSON WHO OWNS THE PHONE. The Fed office was the owner of the phone, but they never did anything about protecting their property - the phone was messed with by the USER (the terrorists), not the owner.

Companies who purchase this type of phone for their employees should hire a very smart IT person and have them set up the phone for THE COMPANY’S CONTROL. This was never done - and the phone was just given to the terrorists, not knowing what they were doing with it. THIS IS NOT A GOOD PLAN. Employers should always maintain control over ANY COMPANY PHONE.

So, I’m supporting Apple .. because they provided a way for the owner of the phone to protect it .. and the owner didn’t do that .. and now they’re whining because they can’t get control. Hmmmmmm? Ignorance - isn’t a good excuse.

Actually, the Sheriff’s Office for the San Bernardino area has plenty of terrorist activity information (over near Palm Desert is a Terrorist Training camp; and they already have a death related to terrorists); so why isn’t the FBI checking with them, instead of harassing Apple?
