And no offense to new members of FreeRepublic, but I've been around here a long time ... and if I read ranting and vitriol (for or against ANY candidate) on a thread, and I see that the poster(s) haven't been here for very long, then I just assume that a lot of them are paid flacks (or even Democrats) who aren't serious about this website anyway.

Personally, I see the two candidates you've mentioned as flawed in a lot of ways. Trump is erratic at best and would probably be a huge disappointment to a lot of Freepers simply because he seems to have no core principles. Cruz is smart and has talked a great game in Washington, but it's hard for him to campaign as an outsider when he's made a career in politics.

So you are ok with vitriol as long as they have been on FR a long time?

Cruz, to be clear, is a first term Senator, not a DC-insider and did not make a “career in politics” in DC.

Some may be confused by the accusation that a career in politics means a DC career in politics.

Cruz’s Texas political career, no doubt, lead lawyer for the conservative state and all that (never governor), but let’s not forget DC insiders/politicians hate Cruz.
