Donald Trump's "full" position on Second Amendment Rights.

PROTECTING OUR SECOND AMENDMENT RIGHTS WILL MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN

Donald J. Trump on the Right to Keep and Bear Arms

The Second Amendment to our Constitution is clear. The right of the people to keep and bear Arms shall not be infringed upon. Period.

The Second Amendment guarantees a fundamental right that belongs to all law-abiding Americans. The Constitution doesn’t create that right – it ensures that the government can’t take it away. Our Founding Fathers knew, and our Supreme Court has upheld, that the Second Amendment’s purpose is to...

This is Trump’s position now, only because he is running for the nomination.

His past 2A positions have been mostly liberal for decades, wishy-washy (RINO) at best.

The second amendment was to keep the people in control of their government. It also gave them the right tool to replace their government if they found the need. Which brings us to why the government feels the need to take away your tools from your tool box.

Just words on a web page. Better politicians than Trump have broken promises. I don’t trust any of them anymore.

In his 2000 book “The America We Deserve” Trump seemed to take a different stance.

“I generally oppose gun control, but I support the ban on assault weapons and I also support a slightly longer waiting period to purchase a gun,” he said. “With today’s Internet technology we should be able to tell within seventy-two hours if a potential gun owner has a record.”

Of course, this was before he became a democrat... and then suddenly stopped being a democrat again.

He was never anti-2nd Amendment - made a few ill-informed comments with some of the "assault weapons" bans but really took interest as his sons got older and became enthusiasts. Like none of us here has ever had luke-warm interest in something and had to allow life events to fully formulate/solidify our core beliefs.

What DT said in his book (with co-writer Dave Shiflett*) The America We Deserve - January 15, 2000.

It's often argued that the American murder rate is high because guns are more available here than in other countries. After a tragedy like the massacre at Columbine High School, anyone could feel that it is too easy for Americans to get their hands on weapons. But nobody has a good solution. This is another issue where you see the extremes of the two existing major parties. Democrats want to confiscate all guns, which is a dumb idea because only the law-abiding citizens would turn in their guns and the bad guys would be the only ones left armed. The Republicans walk the NRA line and refuse even limited restrictions. I generally oppose gun control, but I support the ban on assault weapons and I also support a slightly longer waiting period to purchase a gun. With today's Internet technology we should be able to tell within seventy-two hours if a potential gun owner has a record.

The forward to that book:

Throughout The American We Deserve, Donald Trump points out problems and offers sensible, practical solutions. To help him formulate his ideas into well-researched and workable policies, Donald Trump has secured the support and counsel of a group of domestic and foreign policy advisers, all with White House or senior policy experience.

In The American We Deserve, Donald Trump lays out his concerns and solutions, virtually a platform on the major political issues facing our country. But this is not a dry, public-policy book. This is Donald Trump taking on the issues in his no-nonsense, unvarnished manner, offering populist, provocative, and sometimes dramatic solutions that no other politician would dare to put forward.

In three best-selling books, Donald Trump used stories of his deal-making and his dazzling life to captivate readers with his version of just how far you can go if you dream the American Dream. In The American We Deserve, Trump takes all that he has learned from his successes, his failures, and his extraordinary comeback and uses those lessons to build a vision of what needs to be done to ensure that the American Dream he dreamed continues to be a possibility for everyone.

Sure. Trump has "evolved" on many issues. The problem for me is not knowing what he will evolve into next.

"I will be changing very rapidly. I'm very capable of changing to anything I want to change to."

That’s not REALLY Trump’s position. I know that because I can channel his thoughts, and they told me it’s all a big lie.

(how Trump haters, posing as Cruz supporters, explain this away)

These are, I believe, the same “core beliefs” that Trump has had on his website for some months now and which haven’t been added to? So we still don’t know what his plan on healthcare, cutting government, the military, judicial preferences, or any number of areas are. Save the reruns and wake us when the new stuff arrives.

Those are sound bites, not policies, much less solutions. "I will make our military so strong nobody will mess with us." How? "I will unite our country and bring people together." How? "I will be the greatest job producing president in history." How?

He hasn't added to his five positions in months. Where are his position papers on healthcare? Cutting government? Reducing the deficit? The judiciary? Roe v. Wade? Nothing but crickets on those. Or incomprehensible mentions in speeches.

And his press releases? What good are those?

The 2 AMd does not have the phrase law abiding in it.
