The President does NOT get to pick Supreme Court justices (vanity)
me

Posted on 02/14/2016 5:50:45 AM PST by Leaning Right

The President only gets to nominate Supreme Court justices. As we all know, the nominee only becomes a justice with the "Advice and Consent" of the Senate. The word Consent implies that the Senate is not supposed to just roll over here. The President and the Senate are equal partners in the process.

Senate Republicans, are you listening?

I'm rather tired of folks who say that the Senate should usually defer to the President on Supreme Court appointments.

And yes, I suppose what's good for the goose is good for the gander. The same should apply when a GOP President sends a nominee to a Democrat Senate.

Would this sometimes lead to gridlock? Sure, but that's to be expected, as we are a seperation-of-powers nation.

The president and the Dems buy off the Republicrats and other holdouts with bennies. LBJ invited the leading Republican senator (whose name escapes me) to the Whitehouse and asked him what it would take to get his support for the Great Society program. The senator pulled out a list and handed it to LBJ. It contained a list of committee chairmanships and other items. LBJ looked at it and said, done. That was how we got one of the most expensive and damaging programs in US history. As Daniel Patrick Moynihan said, -politics is all about who gets how much and when.-

We will know when the Senate convenes if they move forward on Obama nominee, if there is any hope for the country...

Right now we are on a precipice of going into the thousands years of darkness Reagan spoke of...

I certainly hope all those ‘real conservatives’ who were to proud to vote for Romney enjoy a 5-4 liberal supreme court. This is what comes from being too conservative to vote for the Republican nominee.

You are correct! This will be the test off the Republicans - will they stand for the Constitution or will they continue the slide for socialism? If they allow hearings on any BHO nomination, it is assured that whoever is nomiated will be confirmed since only a couple of weasels will need to be flipped.

Senate Republicans, are you listening?

Do you know how many Senate Republicans voted against Ruth Bader Ginsburg?

The only reason they side with the democrats for socialism is because it allows for them to continue the cronyism on capitol hill...

They can't upset the uniparty coalition of corporations buying their vote...

The one GOOD thing that the corporations buying congress know Obama will put up an anti-business, anti capitalist nominee...

Not good for their business and will pressure both parties to not move on confirmation...

What we have most to fear is RINOs.

If the RINOs give their usual carte blanch to Obama--it will galvanize support for Trump.

The Trump Revolution is GUT-LEVEL RAGE against the destruction of America.

The decision facing Americans who love America is whether to rally behind Trump and FIGHT! or to submit to those who intend to destroy the U.S.A., watch America sink into decay, and hope that the fall of America will not be too bad...

In other words: We can Fight for America or watch America fall.

Sheesh dude, go get some counseling or something.

If the Senate rolls on this and a piece of crap justice is confirmed, then it’s not the president, it’s those who are called republicans that are at fault.

We voted and gave Congress the power to stop this a$$clown, instead, they’re on their knees, groveling.

Has nothing to do with Romney nor those who either didn’t or did vote.

We know who’s in the senate. And you expect them to fight?

That’s really funny. Lots of ‘real’ conservatives won’t vote for Republicans but they damn sure want them to bail their asses out of the trouble their stupid decisions get them into.
