At first impression one is impelled to say that Donald Trump is utterly irrelevant to this process but when one considers the scurrilous history of Donald Trump's dealmaking one can easily understand how he will broker a deal between McConnell and Obama by the terms of which McConnell agrees to an appointee who will rule against Cruz on natural birth citizenship.

McConnell will go for the deal because he, like Trump, is a dealmaker with the other side and he knows he will be able to cut deals with Trump but not with Cruz and Obama will go for the deal because he will get a leftist judge.

This election has twisted you normally gracious utterances beyond hope. You are teetering on an edge I wish you would back away from, please!

My prediction:

When the next 3 months are done, Trump and Cruz will be staunch allies.

In fact, Trump could well promise Cruz the Scalia vacancy, which would seriously help the country.
