My prediction:

When the next 3 months are done, Trump and Cruz will be staunch allies.

In fact, Trump could well promise Cruz the Scalia vacancy, which would seriously help the country.

Evidently my writing this time was not "top-notch" or at least not clear. I did not say that we are impelled toward believing that a deal between McConnell and Obama will occur, I said we are impelled toward believing that Donald Trump should be irrelevant to the process of nominating and confirming, or failing to confirm, a new Justice.

I quite agree that Ted Cruz on the Supreme Court would be an ideal post for him and for the country if he fails to persuade on natural born citizen.

I question whether Donald Trump ever has any allies, he has toadies and enemies and those who cooperate at his convenience but, as Churchill said of the Huns, he is otherwise at your feet or at your throat.

I am not sure that Cruz is the best choice for a seat on the bench of SCOTUS, but I think he would be a great VP, especially if something happened to President Trump...
