I remember those! One had the buttons in the middle of the steering wheel, another had the buttons on a small square panel on the left side of the dashboard.

This is what Allison uses in trucks and buses.

Rambler. I had a 1960 Rambler with the push buttons and the front seats that folded back flat.

the edsel had shift buttons in the center of the steering wheel
