In High School, my date night vehicle (courtesy of Mom) progressed from a '52 DeSoto (with 'suicide' doors and a 'semi-automatic' transmission) to the '59 Rambler American to a '64 Plymouth Valiant.

Not exactly the coolest kid in town. :-)
