It was surprisingly amazingly good.
I had no idea.
Amazing voice. Goosebumps!!!
in an interview done afterwards, Gaga says that is her favorite too, and one she used to sing along with as a young girl. Dream fulfilled.
Go on YouTube and watch her duets with Tony Bennett, and you will be even more amazed.
That’s ridiculous. You imply that black gospel singers are not American.
I love when the crowd cheered when they showed our fighting men and women in Afghanistan. Lady G did a nice job.
No interest. won’t watch, won’t listen, regardless.
Isn’t she off key on a few notes here? Or, is that what passes as “interpretation” these days? All in all it’s a pretty good performance, except for a few notes that seem wrong. Actually, I know I’m a “fuddy, duddy”, but I’ve never actually heard her before, and I’m surprised that she’s that good. except for those notes...
What’s with Carolina football player #1? I’ve noticed him before. He can’t seem to place his hand over his heart during the National Anthem. He just hangs both hands on his neckline and gazes skyward. Deliberate lack of respect. The Panthers should fine him.
She can be proud of her performance.
I never followed the *obscene Gaga* .... this redeems her a lot, IMO
You’re right...WOW!! I had never heard her sing until I watched a Barnes & Noble Christmas commercial with her and Tony Bennett singing “Baby, It’s Cold Outside.” I thought she had an awesome voice. I watched her in the past season of “American Horror Story: Hotel” and felt she played an excellent role. Her rendition of the National Anthem definitely brought tears to my eyes. By the way, I believe that was Marlee Matlin signing to the song, and she’s still a very pretty girl. I say girl, because I’m 68, and she’s 50, so I’m old enough to be her mother. My oldest son will be 50 this year.
You didn’t hear incorrectly.
Yes I thought this was a good second to Whitney Houston too.
Black Gospel originated in America, just like the White Gospel musical genre.
I agree 100%. The game, however is b-o-r-I-n-g so far. (2nd quarter)
Lady Gaga did wonderfully well—much better than I thought.
This version, sung by Whitney Houston at Super Bowl 25 in Tampa, 1991, still brings me to tears:

This was during the Gulf War. This was before Rodney King, OJ, Bill and Hillary Clinton, MonicaGate, Sept. 11th, Obama.
We went on to win the Gulf War, and eight months later the Soviet Union fell apart. Race relations were at their best.
It has been a long 25 years.
She did an admirable job. Way to go Gaga!
Awesome job.
