RALEIGH, N.C. â Krispy Kreme Challenge race officials said Saturday that a man died after running in the annual race.
A 58-year old man complained of chest pains during the first mile of the 12th annual race, officials said. The man, who was not identified, was taken to Rex Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

The run began at 8:30 a.m. at North Carolina State Universityâs bell tower and runners traveled 2.5 miles to the Krispy Kreme location at the intersection of Peace and person streets. After consuming a dozen donuts, participants ran back to the bell tower.

Irony.
Actually I’m thinking he sampled too many of them before the start of the race.
No name given. How old is Chris Christie again?

That’s just wrong on SO many levels.
Shoulda’ stuck to the donuts.
Why would you run? Much easier to eat KK’s while sitting.
These donuts are overrated. I’d rather have grocery store donuts.
Christie only moves at a slow walk, the only reason he’s still alive. If he tried a run like that,he’s a goner for sure.
LMAO...
Only Krispy Kreme in town turned into a Whataburger. I guess my neighbors are into healthy eating. Now the closest one is 7 miles away in the next town. Too far to run.
I’d imagine Krispy Kreme execs are horrified but relieved that it happened before the doughnuts.
Whadda way to go.
Must have some coffee with that fatal 'nut.
I have no idea who serves as New Jersey’s Lt. Governor.
That first mile is a killer.
But oh how I could dream of doing whatever fitness program enough to justify sitting down on a snowy morning with a dozen fresh KK and going werewolf on them. Coffee and KKs and no second thoughts - yum.
maybe purging after 10, involuntary most likely!
Just whatever you do, don’t let Chris appear in public dressed in his Baseball Uniform with those snow white stretch pants! I gotta hand it to him, unlike me, Chris is never too self conscious to have fun, so good for him.
Spent many a blissful hour at that KK location while I was in grad school at NCSU.
The Krispy Kreme Challenge was after my time, though.
