Bursts of gamma rays from the center of our galaxy are not likely to be signals of dark matter but rather other astrophysical phenomena such as fast-rotating stars called millisecond pulsars, according to two new studies, one from a team based at Princeton University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and another based in the Netherlands.
Previous studies suggested that gamma rays coming from the dense region of space in the inner Milky Way galaxy could be caused when invisible dark matter particles collide. But using new statistical analysis methods, the two research teams independently found that the gamma ray signals are uncharacteristic of those expected from dark matter. Both teams reported the finding today in the journal Physical Review Letters.
"Our analysis suggests that what we are seeing is evidence for a new astrophysical source of gamma rays at the center of the galaxy," said Mariangela Lisanti, an assistant professor of physics at Princeton. "This is a very complicated region of the sky and there are other astrophysical signals that could be confused with dark matter signals."
The center of the Milky Way galaxy is thought to contain dark matter because it is home to a dense concentration of mass, including dense clusters of stars and a black hole. A conclusive finding of dark matter collisions in the galactic center would be a major step forward in confirming our understanding of our universe. "Finding direct evidence for these collisions would be interesting because it would help us understand the relationship between dark matter and ordinary matter," said Benjamin Safdi, a postdoctoral researcher at MIT who earned his Ph.D. in 2014 at Princeton.

The only thing that amazes me is how much we humans, collectively, BELIEVE we understand.

INCORRECT.
Dark matter was invented because all galaxies (not just the Milky Way) absolutely fail to behave as they should if their movements were dictated primarily by gravity. Thus scientists imagine that pixie dust, oops I mean “dark matter”, is sprinkled around the galaxies in just the right amounts, in just the right places, in order to allow them to describe the galaxies using only gravity-based equations. They cannot detect this pixie dust, I mean “dark matter”, but I guess if they just believe in it really hard, it might become real.
Do you really think ET's have migrated there for the light show?
Ha ha, we found these things called humans on the rim and they made up all these bizarre and elaborate physics theories explaining how pulsars, black holes and gamma bursts could actually develop as naturally occurring phenomena. What a bunch of rubes. Didn’t it occur to them that things that look like giant unmistakable beacons might just be artificial?!”

For the energy - there is so much virtually unlimited in any quantities that anything could be built - time moves slower as you approach the accretion disk. For a mechanoid that is time enough to develop things we cannot fathom or even imagine - like rebuilding themselves into protons and anti-protons to out live the universe ... and so on. If you want to survive the heat death of the universe its either that or travel to The Great Attractor - the spot were all matter is heading towards at increasing speed - and hope someone opened a door to another universe.
WEll, that’s comforting , I guess.. As we don’t know how much dark matter is out there anyway.
Although , it must be quite substantial. In a relative way. I reckon.

If dark matter is gravitationally reactive what would keep it from aggregating into dark matter planets and stellar structures of its own. These should be detectable as they’re presumably massive, thus supposedly contributing to the so-called missing mass of the universe overall.
Yet this is not what we detect in this nor any other stellar system that we have discovered, instead to be informed that there is just dark matter, which is supposedly is undetectable.
If it is gravitationally coupled then it seemingly should be discernable.
I’m convinced dark matter is a myth that is developed to solve bad math that helps support bad physics theories.
I also doubt dark matter theories. There is something else that does not add up.
