Tesla (TSLA) stock is down more than 25% so far this year. It hit its lowest level since February 2014 on Wednesday.
Wall Street has grown increasingly skeptical about the company in recent weeks.
Adam Hull, an analyst with European investment bank Berenberg, initiated coverage on Tesla Wednesday with a sell rating.
Pacific Crest analyst Brad Erickson said in a report Tuesday that investors should "avoid" Tesla stock. He cited concerns about sluggish demand for the company's new Model X crossover.
And even longtime Tesla bull Adam Jonas of Morgan Stanley, is suddenly feeling a little less optimistic about the electric car company. Jonas cut his price target from $450 a share to $333 on Monday.
That's still more than 80% higher than Tesla's current stock price. But Jonas conceded that Tesla could be hurt by the continued plunge in oil prices as well as increased competition in the race to create a autonomous, or self-driving, car.
As long as oil prices remain low, average consumers (as opposed to the wealthy who can afford to buy a Model S or Model X and presumably aren't checking gas prices daily) may not feel compelled to switch to an electric car.

Electrics can charge while you sleep. Just to put the whole thing in perspective.
It’s all about “tax credits”, without them Tesla would be DEAD! http://www.latimes.com/business/autos/la-fi-hy-tesla-tax-break-20151013-story.html
Tesla's worst nightmare would be the removal of the fat taxpayer subsidies.
I don't go to sleep every 200 miles (being generous). Just to put the whole thing in perspective.
Price of gas doesn’t matter to rich people and the toys they choose.
A Tesla is a luxury item unconnected to economic factors.
Expanding into the general consumer market was never an option anyway.
So people will keep buying them because they like them, for totally uneconomic reasons.

How many days a year do you drive 300 miles?
By driving a (any model/any brand) you show you can afford it, regardless of your financial position. Hybrids have proven themselves to save gas, money and will boost the power and performance of any car it is designed into. Every model car Lexus sells in both gas and hybrid is now faster and more powerful as a hybrid. It's worth the price difference to get the extra power. Tesla has already proven it can make one of the fastest production cars made. If you look at it from a muscle car point of view, who wouldn't want a faster car that gets great gas mileage? Oh, that's right...those "little people". Go be a jealous, liberal, class warfare troll somewhere else. If you meant to insult the "Hey look at me!" types, you missed by a mile. Hybrids are here to stay, quit being envious of people with nice cars.
How many days does it take of needing a second vehicle to make it a silly purchase?
As far as toys I would buy if I were rich, Tesla is at the top. However IIRC the “superchargers” are only in specific places in California and along the East Coast. I was thinking of the 240V charger for ones house.
Enough that it’s a concern. And I don’t trust Tesla’s 300 mile claim.
so how does this tesla run in the summer, sweltering heat, ac on full blast?
or in the winter, sub zero temps??
Wow, personal attack much?
Toy for rich Californians.
I’ve always felt Tesla stock was a slam dunk short.
But I’ve also learned never bet against a regime affiliated crony capitalist.
So I’m just a spectator.
With all that subsidized money who really lost?
The furthest I've ever driven in one day is exactly 1000 miles. I'd never do that with an electric. While that was once, we do spend plenty of time on the road. An all electric would definitely lower the distance we would be able to otherwise drive with a gas powered vehicle.

Six routes north and south.
Three routes east and west.

Gas cars don’t need to, because you aren’t fueling them with an eyedropper. 2 minutes at the pump and you are good to continue the next leg of your 500 mile trip.
Their BIGGEST problem is the limited supply of idiots that have some psychological need to buy the car...and that supply is quickly being exhausted.
I don’t know what happened? One minute I was in a good mood and all of a sudden, I see a biased comment that people were making 13 years ago, with no idea of what has transpired in car technology since then, who wants to make a point in a thread on high tech cars. I snapped...
