It’s almost certain that the misbehavior in the Cruz camp didn’t change the outcome.
But that doesn’t excuse what the Cruz people did.
They took a report on CNN and read something into it that wasn’t there.
And instead of verifying the facts, in the heat of the moment, they ran with it to get the maximum possible advantage that they could.
It doesn’t matter whether 1 vote or 10,000 changed over this.
Cruz said it was “fair game”, which says a lot about his character.
Cruz “character”:
1. Phony summonses mailed out, scaring people to vote.
2. Claiming Carson quit, “vote for me”
3. Campaigning in the 800 churches, showing video “vote for me”
4. “Brilliant” lawyer, did not know he was Canadian citizen and that he is not Natural Born Citizen, not eligible for office of P or VP.
Just enough to beat the polls and Trump.
Whata kontry!
Carson says it changed his results.
Cruz apologized to Carson.
There is a now-deleted tweet by someone on Cruz’s team, saying that the Carson team in NH had confirmed that Carson was planning to quit. The NH team had left Carson’s team on Sunday (IIRC) to join the Cruz team - and it’s highly possible that they did so, while still highly respecting Carson, because Carson had told them that he was going to drop out.
If that tweet is genuine, it may well be that Cruz’s campaign confirmed the report with Carson’s workers that had just left Carson’s team the day before. That would explain why the Cruz team responded to newgeezer (a speaker on behalf of Cruz at the caucus who didn’t see the emails until after the caucus and who then asked the campaign what was going on) that there was more going on to the story. It would explain why they said in their email that Carson would have a major announcement in the next week, and why when asked what that “major announcement” comment was about they wouldn’t comment/reveal their sources.
In any event, what CNN reported was that Carson was not going to NH or SC - and CNN speculated that EVERYBODY knows that if you don’t go to NH or SC you must be shutting down. Carson’s campaign website has no campaign events scheduled, anywhere. The campaign was suspended to deal with the death of one of the IA workers and had never started back up again and the website shows no plans to ever start back up again.
What Cruz said was “fair game” was letting his people know about the CNN report. Are you claiming that campaigns can’t report the news to their own workers?
Jake Tapper said that the info in the CNN report came directly from Carson. If he didn’t want anybody knowing this information he should not have spoken to CNN.
