Trump clearly had the votes to win Iowa but he didn't put the boots on the ground to get out the vote. Cruz had an epic ground game with 10,000 volunteers, data analytics, SUPER PACS, etc. It's amazing that Trump still came within a few percentage points on a shoestring operation. That's to Trump's credit but he still lost.
The Cruz campaign's pollster said Trump's numbers in the public polls were buoyed by a group of voters who do not typically vote in the caucuses but were strongly attached to Trump. These unlikely regular caucus voters needed a push. Trump did not have the infrastructure.
The depressing thing is if Trump didn't want to self-fund tens of millions of dollars for infrastructure comparable to Cruz, all he really had to do was ask. He could have easily asked for small dollar donations at his website. Asking his supporters to invest in his campaign and still kept his credibility against Super-PACS and special interests/lobbyists. A $20 donation isn't going to influence him.
Perhaps after googling it, you should have taken time to actually read it. Because nowhere in that link does it show that Cruz lied. Yet it is crystal clear at this point that you did lie about what Cruz said, especially considering that you don't even know what Cruz said.
So considering your own propensity to lie, it is the pinnacle of hypocrisy for you to use a lie to falsely accuse Cruz of lying.
Funny. It is all over Free Republic. You are lucky I went as far as I did. Consider yourself someone that I went above and beyond. You are welcome.
That's right. There was only one way to stop Carson's meteoric rise in the last days of the Iowa campaign.....and that was to cheat. If Cruz hadn't repeated what CNN reported, Carson might have come out with 9.32% of the vote instead of 9.3%. Cruz should be in jail.
When do you anticipate your butt will stop hurting from last night?
I see that integrity is something you simply do not value.
Are you kidding......he was at 10 percent and would have went to 12 or 13 maybe 14 if Cruz didn’t screw him. You do know he was at 10 percent at 27 percent of the input.
Well you did not read my last post so I think you need to go back and read it.
Cruz got 8 and Trump got 7. Trump did alright.
False.
CNN reported Carson was dropping out.
They did this because Carson did say he had to go home to Florida to “get a change of clothes”
That is a silly thing to say and understandably led analysts to think he was quitting.
Then the Cruz team heard cnn and other outlets reporting this and relayed this important info to caucus sites.
Carson may have been foolish but Cruz did not trick or deceive anyone.
Carson needs to clue in on campaigning and messaging. I still don’t believe his going to get some clothes argument.
"Last night when our political team saw the CNN post saying that Dr. Carson was not carrying on to New Hampshire and South Carolina, our campaign updated grassroots leaders just as we would with any breaking news story," Cruz said in a statement first shared with CNN. "That's fair game. What the team then should have done was send around the follow-up statement from the Carson campaign clarifying that he was indeed staying in the race when that came out."
Again, show me where Cruz lied.
Before Cruz did this he tried to blame Trump. Fortunately, there were screen shots to prove that THAT was a lie. Then he came up with this. So which is it? Which of the lies do we pick when the music stops?
Trump knew he would never win Iowa as he is not the son of the preacher man. To his credit he spent relatively little and took second place.
At some point you guys are going to have to face the fact that your guy thought he could phone it in by attracting big crowds for his speeches. He had a pathetic organization and a lousy ground game. Trump got thumped fair and square. No one from the Trump campaign even bothered to show up at numerous precinct meetings. Trump, the well oiled campaign machine, didn't exist in Iowa. This is exactly the opposite of the image you guys have bought hook, line and sinker. You'd better hope it gets better in NH.
Trump always talks quieter in his pressers.
Did you watch the rally that followed? Same fired up and upbeat Trump...speaking to another oversized - and rowdy - NH crowd!
Did you hear CRuz’s speech last night? Many fell asleep and missed most of it. So there’s that :- /
How quickly you guys forget crowing about how Trump was going to crush Cruz in Iowa. What or who will you blame next week if he doesn’t meet expectations again?
Was that before or after Carson first blamed the media for the story about his leaving the race. Carson's collapse in Iowa had to be blamed on someone. Cruz was a much better scapegoat than the media. Carson is way out of his league.
Trump was never going to win Iowa as the son of the preacher man always does. Second place is strong and NH is a normal primary. Cruz has no chance.

Yes it does...for a week. Enjoy...
Several years ago I was up in IA visiting some friends. We spent the day out boating, there may have been a bit of beer involved, and the next thing you know I realize my shoes are in the back of my buddy’s truck, who had left to go to work.
I guess I could have flown home (to FL, actually) to get another pair, but instead I went to the store and bought a pair. I guess I had the advantage, having grown up in IA, of knowing that they actually sell clothes in IA. Or maybe it’s because I couldn’t get a flight on OPM.
