It’s a remake of Zero Hour, very, very closely - lines and scenes.

Only 2 kinds of people in the world. Those who like “Airplane” and those who don’t.
Surely there’s a way to fix these unusual characters in these posts.
"This man must be gotten to a hospital."
"A hospital? What is it?"
"It's a big building with patients, but that's not important right now."
I remember seeing Airplane! in the theater when it was first released. It was very odd, because it seemed VERY familiar - especially when Robert Stack would talk on the radio to Ted Stryker. Why did that scene make me think I’d seen it somewhere before?
Turns out, I’d seen Zero Hour sometime on TV - probably in the mid-60s. Geez, no wonder!
I’ve since obtained a copy of Zero Hour on DVD and watched it with great delight...
The absolute best line in the movie is when Elaine is reminiscing with Striker, and she says this:
Mostly I remember...the nights when we were together. I remember how you used to hold me...and how I used to sit on your face and wriggle...and then afterwards how we'd watch until the sun came up. When it did, it was almost like...like each new day was created...only for us.
I still can't believe they got away with that one...
One of the funniest parts of that movie. A mans voice announces their is no parking in the white zone. Then a female voice saying no parking in loading zone. Then you can hear them arguing with each other after a bit.
haven’t seen it in years.
Still one of my all-time favorite films.
The passengers lining up to beat the hysterical woman is hysterical.
“We have to get this man to a hospital!”
“What is it?”
“It’s a large building filled with doctors and nurses. But that’s not important now”
Did you know Airplane is almost a word for word rip off of an old movie called ‘Zero Hour’ starring Dana Andrews? Right down to the poison fish.
I didn’t and started watching it one day and was floored. Zero Hour wasn’t a comedy. Zero Hour now seems pretty funny too.
It’s OK, I speak jive.
I’ve watched Airplane! dozens of times. It’s one of those movies where if I stumble upon it, I’ll watch it again and *still* laugh. One of the greats.
Probably the movie of all time that GUARANTEES laughter.
I remember seeing this in the movie theater with my brother and another guy who has since passed away in a car accident. The three of us walked out of the theater in Van Nuys or Sherman Oaks, after having laughed to tears through basically the entire movie, and said “Well, that was stupid.” “Yeah.” Lol. We did not appreciate how much intelligence was behind all that comedy.
And though I’ve watched it a million times, one of the best times was when my then mother in law was asleep one room away and could hear everything, and it came on tv. We tried very hard to stifle our laughter. That’s how I know it does guarantee laughs.
My two favorite parts are a) Leslie and the woman on a guerney and he has a speculum in his hand, in the aisle of a plane, and b) when Karreem finally breaks character.
"Well I'll give him another twenty minutes....but that's it."
Another Zucker movie that is underrated is BASEketball, which featured Trey Parker and Matt Stone from South Park.
