Clearly, it is the institutions themselves that are corrupt. Sending good men and women to corrupt institutions results not in reformed institutions but rather another batch of corrupted men and women.

The presidency that Obama relinquishes (hopefully) will have more in common with the office held by Hugo Chavez than George Washington. IOW, the next prez, no matter who, will have despotic powers. It is time to reclaim our free republic. Elections alone are insufficient.

Absolute truth in this statement folks. Read it again.

Article V in corrupted institutions coerced to lawlessness themselves may also prove to be ineffective. We have a federal Beast that is lawless and States that wither from opposition the second federal funds are threatened to be withdrawn.

We have exhausted the soap and ballot boxes which are of themselves corrupted into tools for the Ruling Class. That leaves one. And one that the entire Beast in DC is working to rid We The People of.

Article V is a necessary step however. A necessary last resort before the bullets begin flying, which will be necessary to restore any semblance of a Republic.

Because then, the cause for liberty will have it's justification for what must come next.

If there is one thing in history that is constant - it is that you cannot stop despotism or tyranny via civil means.

That said, I am sadly becoming more convinced each day that the vast majority of this country is not interested in a Republic, but the majority wants Socialism. That is something they will fight for and take to the streets. Importing millions of third world welfare leech Leftists and Islamists over the decades has made that inevitable.

Conservatives, not so much. And the Left knows this. When we do show up for peaceful protest, their contempt and scorn is parroted by the media and we are again shamed into silence and turned on one another.

Like every single Republic that came before us, we committed national suicide.

You may be right, but if history offers a glimpse, our future may not be that bleak.

Both Rome and England walked up to the line of despotism and stepped back. They subsequently enjoyed some great centuries before eventually succumbing to un-free government.

Also on the bright side is that (AFAIK) no people ever sat down to frame or amend their institutions in order to enslave themselves.

In recent years, the people via the ballot box and their states have shown a LOT of resistance to our rulers in DC. We voted to boot the rats from congressional control in 2010, 2012, and the states have brought numerous suits against the Obama tyranny. Something like 66 of 99 state houses are not in rat hands.

I still occasionally visit a political daydream in which President Cruz informs the American people that he alone cannot possibly restore free government and that it is up to us to make it happen.
