Prior to this primary, I've never seen or partaken in, the vitriolic discussions Ive seen on FreeRepublic before now. Particularly when we all have held the same goal for so long.
But I am now guilty, as others are...

I hope so. American politics has changed when the top two candidates on FreeRepublic are also the top two Republicans in the polls. That should be cause for celebration, not acrimony.

I’m for Trump but will enthusiastically vote for and volunteer for Cruz should he win. No Dems allowed. I’ve got a lot invested against the Clintons having spent many weekends protesting down at the White House against Shrillary and the Big Creep. Trump can take her down should she escape her email crimes.

I believe I’ve kept my comments attack-free when it comes to Cruz and Trump themselves; and I generally don’t respond with ad hominem attacks on other FReepers either, but there’s a handful of vicious anti-Trump posters here who post dozens of garbage posts every day, and I’m convinced that this handful are not even real Cruz supporters, but instead are Democrat trolls whose sole purpose is to foster a civil war here, and I’ve decided to take those trolls on lock stock and barrel. I apologize if I’ve incorrectly classified your posts in that category.

It’s called Political Idolatry and I’ve been guilty of that in the past. Since the republican held congress kept back stabbing the people who sent them there, I just don’t trust any candidate anymore.

Well, how could you do otherwise than think that? I gave in to emotion, my fealty to Cruz overloaded my good sense.
After our exchange I had to stop and think why I was so adamant about Cruz, that I would act in such a manner. it came down to Cruz was loyal to his voters, of which, I Was one, and I owed him loyalty in return.
I began to see trump supporters as the enemy. Stupid, stupid, stupid!

I’ve had this same conversation with several Republican friends in the past few weeks. This is so reminiscent of the election of Jesse Ventura. The only saving grace there was we were dealing with what to do with a rather large surplus and the DFL came in a distant third. I particularly enjoyed the splitting of the surplus three ways. 1/3 tax cut for the Repuplicans, 1/3 new spending for the DFL, and 1/3 cut in fees and licenses for Jesse.
Unfortunately the United States is not plagued by a merely tiresome surplus of funds and we have much more dangerous enemies than a few Wisconsin Badgers, and Chicago Bears.
We survived Jesse, it was painful and embarrassing, but we survived. I’m not confident we will survive Obama followed by Trump or Clinton.

It is not bashing when one tells the truth. I am not a group think person and neither are several others here. We need someone who can fight as our president, not another cream puff. We don’t have the time left as a nation to play the typical politics as the politicians play.
