Knowledge

You got something against it?

Traveling to the moon gave us so many technologies we use today it is unbelievable. We got at least 10 times the value back.

Looking at stars may not get you there, but the engineers who build the optics or radio telescopes learn new ways to do things.

The transistor was the result of pure research. Many many things come just because you ask ‘why’?

Staying on the Moon would have yielded a thousand-fold the value.

Traveling to the moon

That has nothing to do with my question. I approve of travel(attempting) in our solar system because it spurs technology. I get that. But the stars are inaccessible, always will be so if you know anything about physics, and what technological break thru will studying balls of spinning plasma light years from earth yield?
