What possible useful information is gained from looking at little dots of light in space that humans will NEVER be able to travel to? What good is knowing the life cycle of a star? /rant

Knowledge

You got something against it?

Traveling to the moon gave us so many technologies we use today it is unbelievable. We got at least 10 times the value back.

Looking at stars may not get you there, but the engineers who build the optics or radio telescopes learn new ways to do things.

The transistor was the result of pure research. Many many things come just because you ask ‘why’?
