With respect to another earlier comment, back when dinosaurs roamed the earth, I once dated someone who’s father was in the civil service. One of the things that put me off about here was the way she talked about/treated employees of the ‘service’ sector. The best way I can describe it was an attitude of utter contempt. She’d say things like “if these people had any brains, they could get a real job.”
Guess I dodged a bullet on that one.
Thing is, looking back on it, she learned that attitude somewhere, most likely her parents and peers in the young bureaucrat society. It’s a window into how the ‘elites’ really feel about us.

I do know one woman who loved and owned horses who wasn't a nut job. In college I was an assistant manager of a store and she worked for me. We became very good friends, she with my fiancee also, and we are still friends today. She was a really wonderful person and finally married a Veterinarian. They are really in love and make a wonderful couple.
Probably a statistical outlier.
Horses eat money, and excrete work...
