Trump Silent On Abortion On 43rd Roe Anniversary, Pro- Lifer Challenges Him to Speak Out
Life News ^ | 1/22/2016 | Steve Ertelt

Posted on 01/22/2016 4:11:24 PM PST by conservativejoy

Businessman Donald Trump says he is pro-life and wants to de-fund the Planned Parenthood abortion business. He's vocal on just about every topic and is ready to offer a quip at a moment's notice on anything that concerns him, the presidential campaign of politics.

But Trump is remarkably silent today on the 43rd anniversary of Roe v. Wade. His campaign has issued no statement from him on the 58 million unborn babies killed in abortion, he's not addressed pro-life topics today in any interviews and the prolific tweeter hasn't said a word on Twitter or even RTd a statement or picture from anyone else opposing abortion.

His silence has resulted in a top pro-life U.S. Senator challenging him to speak out for unborn children on today - the day that the majority of Americans who are pro-life solemnly recall the dreadful Supreme Court decision that ushered in an era of virtually unlimited abortions throughout pregnancy for any reason.

SIGN THE NEW PLEDGE: I Pledge to Vote for a Pro-Life Candidate for President

Senator Joni Ernst, a pro-life Republican who happens to hail from the site of the first presidential caucus, Iowa, told the Weekly Stndard that Trump needs to speak out. She also wants Trump to talk about where he stands on the monumentally important issue of Supreme Court judges - key to whether or not America will suffer from abortion on demand another 43 years.

Ahead of her speech at the March for Life on Friday, Iowa GOP senator Joni Ernst said that Donald Trump should tell voters where he stands on Roe v. Wade, the 1973 Supreme Court decision that declared a right to abortion-on-demand.

"It is extremely important—extremely important” to have a president who would "appoint judges that understand that Roe v. Wade really wasn't a decision that was based on the Constitution," Ernst told THE WEEKLY STANDARD during an interview in her Senate office Friday morning.

Asked if Trump should tell voters his position on the issue, Ernst replied that Republican candidates "need to spell that out. They should know where they stand. They're running for the office of president. They should know where they stand on this issue because it is so important."

Unfortunately, Trump's campaign is not responding to pro-life news sources like The Weekly Standard about more details on his pro-life positions on abortion and Supreme Court judges.

"Trump spokeswoman Hope Hicks has not replied to emails from TWS asking for clarification on these points," TWS reporter John McCormack wrote.

If Trump wants pro-life voters to take his views seriously, he needs to speak our more frequently and more thoroughly on abortion - especially on a day when America is mourning 58 million aborted babies.

He says he’s pro life with three exceptions. Other republican candidates have held the same or similar positions. You must realize or maybe you don’t that a majority of Americans don’t really want roe v Wade overturned and the SCOTUS knows it which is why they are unlikely to take up the issue any time soon.

None of the GOP candidates would be able to effect change on this issue.

At this point it’s probably up to the States to try to curtail abortion activities as much as possible in their own backyard.

Like all of the men and women who have said they are against abortion over the years and have done NOTHING at all.

NOTHING.

In fact, when give the chance to stop the worst aspect of it, the selling of baby parts, THEY FUNDED it with our money, because they are “scared” of a government shutdown.

Sorry, those are the ones that could have done something, and they chose to do nothing.

And we voted for them.

Don’t try and lay this at Trump’s feet, and don’t try and guilt trip me and tell me that I’m not conservative.

You can support whomever you want. But I thought FR was a conservative website. Trump may say many things Conservatives like, but he isn’t conservative the way I thought most of FR would have wanted prior to this campaign.

This is a conservative web site, we helped create the Tea Party, wen to them and worked hard to get TP conservatives elected only to get screwed....again.

If Trump can demolish DC then I support him 10000000%

Yeah I'm pissed, I'm tired of being told I have to support the latest conservative who is going to go to DC and change it, I've heard it too many times.....sorry, no more banana in the tail pipe for me.

That said, if Cruz gets the nod I'll gladly vote for him, but I'm not one to believe he is a God either.

Our nation is rotting from the inside out. Do you think we can save it while letting it completely lose its soul.

Duh, really, thank you so much for letting me know.....now how does it get fixed?

This nation has been infested for the last 100 years, no election is going to turn that around without destroying the rot which is the root, aka Washington DC

Everything else is just politics as usual, DC and it's profiteers must be destroyed.

Can Trump do that? I honestly don't know....but I've heard the parade from the usual politicians who say the will yet they never have, I'll roll the dice and hope for the best instead of pulling the lever for the political class knowing I'm going to get screwed again.

We have a candidate running, Ted Cruz, who has fought hard for life. So, you do have a choice in the primary between Ted Cruz who cares about the unborn and Donald Trump who quite evidently does not. Here are just a few of the things that Cruz has already done to fight for the right to life.

1. Fought to take away taxpayer dollars from Planned Parenthood.

2. Led the charge on behalf of 13 states to successfully defend a federal law that bans partial birth abortion before the U.S. Supreme Court.

3. Advocated for an investigation into abortion practices in the U.S. to prevent the atrocities witnessed in Kermit Gosnell’s facility from ever happening again.

4. Joined 18 states in successfully defending the New Hampshire parental-notification law before the U.S. Supreme Court.

5. Successfully defended Texas’s Rider 8, which prohibits state funds for groups that provide abortions.

Their consciences appear hardened. All they can do is impotently, furiously curse us. But the truth remains: they plan to vote for a pro-abort.

In the past, Trump has been asked about partial birth abortion which of course involves “sticking scissors in the base of a baby’s skull half way out of the birth canal”. Trump’s response to that very specific question about third-trimester abortion was that he was “very very pro-choice”. So yes, the concern about Trump and his pro-life stance is valid, because it is hard to fathom the type of person who would not oppose such a barbaric procedure.

At the end of the next president’s term, the Supreme Court could look like this:

Replacement for Ginsberg
Replacement for Scalia
Replacement for Kennedy
Replacement for Breyer
Justice Alito
Chief Justice Roberts
Justice Kagan
Justice Sotomayor

Do I think that Roberts + Alito + 4 might equal 5 conservative votes? Yes I do. And, Kagan + Sotomayor + 4 could give us 25 or more years of liberal activism during which it doesn’t matter who we elect.

It is just your biased opinion that Trump doesn’t care about unborn children.

And I am glad Ted Cruz did those things, sadly, the practice still remains, but I appreciate his efforts very much.

I am also able to clearly see that his election isn’t going to turn on that issue or his efforts.

He’s just not the guy.

I’m sorry, but that’s the way of things.

Trump’s response to that very specific question about third-trimester abortion was that he was “very very pro-choice”

He also said he hated it, you conveniently left that out.

He has also changed his heart on the issue.

The evil ones have won on this issue, the hearts and mind of the peoples must be changed in enough numbers to reverse it.

Sad to say, it's just not there this time around and this is not an issue.

Well, as we've seen, a better strategy would be to make sure the Supreme Court isn't in a position to make a difference.

It won’t matter. Donald Trump could perform a partial-birth abortion on live TV during Prime Time and then sell the parts on ebay, yet these Trump supporters wouldn’t care. They have made up their mind to vote for a Democrat in the GOP primary regardless of how liberal he is.

"Our nation is rotting from the inside out. Do you think we can save it while letting it completely lose its soul. Do you think that God will bless a nation that kills its own children."

That's the new (cough) conservatism...focus only on a single problem and toss social issues. Dismiss abortion as something that can be bothered with later.

We're becoming what we used to despise.

Who would Trump appoint? I have no idea and I bet he doesn’t either.

But we do have a good idea of the type of candidate Trump deems "phenomenal".

Trump is running for president and he can’t be bothered to speak against abortion even on this one day? Evil will triumph if it is not opposed.

So basically, you already knew the proof existed before asking for it in post 48.
