No, just logical. Bringing out all the Trump crazies, that’s for sure. Funny how reasoned arguments are answered only with insults and slurs.

GOPe conservatives annoying their readers, again? I have no idea the appeal of Trump, other than the surface rejection of the elites. I am on board with that, but Trump is scary, too. A++++

We were behind a car with a trump bumper sticker last night in Boca Raton— prolife plates personalized with WWJD. Fl seems trumpean.

So they sell me the Iraq War, John McCain, and Mitt Romney but Mr. Trump is a bridge to far for them? All I can say is @#$% you N.R.

I can picture Trump’s nomination acceptance speech, where he comes out and says “Gotcha, you stupid suckers!”

If the man actually does become president, the collapse of his image in the eyes of his enthralled worshippers is going to be ugly. They have spit so much venom at anyone who hasn’t fallen in line.

Did you read any of it? It’s everything that people who haven’t fallen under his spell have been pointing out over the last year.

I don’t want someone with no principles. I don’t want someone with no record of supporting conservative ideas. I don’t our own strongman. I don’t believe in hope and change.

Xshub believes it’s an excellent summation. We are really betwixt and between on trump. I do not believe Cruz can win. I do think Rubio can, but if he doesn’t move up, then.....

Trump’s brawling, blustery, mean-spirited public persona serves to associate conservatives with all the negative stereotypes that liberals have for decades attached to their opponents on the right. According to conventional caricature, conservatives are selfish, greedy, materialistic, bullying, misogynistic, angry, and intolerant. They are, we’re told, privileged and pampered elitists who revel in the advantages of inherited wealth while displaying only cruel contempt for the less fortunate and the less powerful. The Left tried to smear Ronald Reagan in such terms but failed miserably because he displayed none of the stereotypical traits. In contrast, Trump is the living, breathing, bellowing personification of all the nasty characteristics Democrats routinely ascribe to Republicans.

I read most of it.

Frankly it broke down into three camps:

1. Trump upsets my uptightness
2. Trump challenges my conservativeTM money machine
3. Trumps not an open borders globalist

Oddly enough the unwinning policies are the ones embraced by Conservative IncTM a libertarian economic policy married with an unpopular sectarian emphasis on social issues. So for those of us who don't like the left but aren't CATO institute think tankers or fundies*,

we finally got someone. *And I say that part with love as I'm socially conservative I've just not made my politics my relgion and I see that all the time.

For the no-longer-bumptious among us:

If you're not feeling old yet, keep in mind that Neil Diamond will turn 75 y/o on Sunday.

That’s awfully cynical. Which of the three do you think I am?

What policies or philosophy do you think Trump espouses? What builds a coalition or holds one together?

When a new issue arises, what decides how Trump will respond?

Do you think ethanol mandates are a good idea?

None.

I may not have been clear. so I’ll try again.

The three camps were of the writers on NRO “symposium” you linked. It was not the a reference to people who believe them.

And back to my original point, NR would have some credibility if it had stood up for conservatism a decade ago (or two) instead of selling non conservative actions and people as conservative.

Not sure what you mean by NR selling non-conservative actions and people.

That would be what they would be doing if they jumped on the Trump wagon. He praised single payer healthcare in one of the first debates. He has no conservative instincts or background. All he has is bluster and attitude.

He praised his liberal pro-abortion sister as a potential SCOTUS justice.

You’re falling for it. It’s not going to end the way you think it will.

I’m not a fan of the ethanol mandate sadly the only candidate to have the guts to fully oppose it is Rand Paul. Frankly I’d be more comfortable with Paul or Trump or maybe Cruz than the others after that foreign policy debate where the rest were all yelling “more cowbell” and by cowbell I mean war.

I’d love to continue the dialogue some time but not now as I have more work than I can handle, and I distract easily.

Have a fantastic weekend.
