The conservative commentariat has imploded in dismay at Sarah Palinâs endorsement of Donald Trump in Iowa on Tuesday.
Fans of Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) , Trumpâs main rival in Iowa and beyond, were understandably dismayed.
But the reaction went far beyond that. Some said Palin betrayed her conservative principles by choosing a candidate whose conservatism is shallow at best. And some rehashed the personal attacks that have been a staple of the left.
In fact, Sarah Palinâs endorsement of Trump makes sense, and fits both her politics and her personality.

She endorsed the leader who has verbalized solutions for conservative issues! Issues that have connected with independents and democrats! One step at a time!

I’ve said the same, she has always been about “going rogue” and putting the USA first.

Pull quote:
What is remarkable is that just days after defending âNew York values,â Trump brought Palinâso often the target of New York elitesâon board. It confirmed that he intends to build a big coalitionâthe âbig tentâ of political lore.
How odd that some conservatives would still prefer to bar the clubhouse door.

Very weak analysis from Pollack. Sarah is more anti establishment than conservative? Really? Should have told me that in 2008. Bernie Sanders is anti establishment. For that matter, the Third Estate was anti establishment during the French revolution.

I think Palin’s decision has more to do with siding with the guy she thinks is inevitable in terms of the “nomination” and one who will be willing to bash the Establishment.
Hell hath no fury type of thing via a proxy in Trump?
Cruz is my guy - but he IS a very polished politician - where areas Trump is not.
The Establishment pissing off Trump will result in more of the kind of retaliation Palin has been wanting for them herself.
Not happy with her ‘endorsement’- but it is what it is.

Hell hath no furry like a woman scorned. Palin got sh it on by all sides of the political spectrum (and media) as McCain's running mate, and ever since then as well. She was the only reason I gave money to that RINO loser in 2008. I don't support Tump to the degree I do Cruz, but certainly understand why she might be looking for some vengeance against the establishment who gleefully slighted and diminished her at every turn by supporting a populist anti-establishment type who may go all the way. Hell, I would if I were her too. More than anyone else I can think of, she's earned it.
