Limbaugh: ‘Nationalism And Populism Have Overtaken Conservatism’ In GOP [VIDEO]
Daily Caller ^ | 1-20-2016 | CHRISTIAN DATOC

Posted on 01/20/2016 11:40:34 AM PST by Citizen Zed

Conservative radio host Rush Limbaugh said Wednesday that Trump's popularity is evidence that "nationalism and populism have overtaken conservatism" in the Republican Party

"The Trump triumph - the Trump coalition - is exposing the fact that it isn't conservative orthodoxy, or conservatism or any of the hard work of the conservative elite," explained Limbaugh, "that is causing people to be conservative."

LIMBAUGH: It's something really simple... They're fed up with the modern day Democratic Party... The Republican Party establishment does not understand this. They do not know who their conservative voters are. They've over-estimated their conservatism... They're not liberals. They're not Democrat. Many of them do not want to be thought of as conservatives for a host of reasons. So somebody who comes along and is able to convey that he or she understands why they're angry and furthermore, is going to do everything to fix it, is going to own them. What's happening here is that 'nationalism' - dirty word, ooh people hate it - and 'populism' - even dirtier word. Nationalism and populism have overtaken conservatism in terms of appeal.

So, what’s the alternative? Realistically?

Rush is right: Trump is an AMERICA FIRST patriot, and his supporters are AMERICA FIRST Nationalists.

Conservative ideals play heavy in nationalism, and many of Trump’s supporters are true Conservatives, but because Trump flies under the banner of NATIONALISM he has a much larger tent than Cruz, and the polls show it.

You’re very correct. The Bushes are the heart of globalism. The ‘toons are their partners. (Their “foundation” is a good example of it.)

Reagan was very much a nationalist. His VP was not.

Cruz is also a globalist. His time at the FTC cemented that, and both his and Heidi’s work for the Bush White House was no coincidence.

Rush nails it. We have voted for so called conservatives time after time. We win Congress only to get higher debt and ignored! The win bought us nothing but betrayal.

Right now this country is in the rapids, and the waterfall is fast approaching, we need to reach a rock to stop us from going over.

Once we’re rescued from the rock, then we can talk about “conservative purity.”

I very much appreciated Rush’s explanation today about what’s going on. It captured it for me.

Rush also did a horrible job describing the views of Sam Francis. Sam was a contstitutionalist at his core. His flirtation with populism was electoral strategy, his views on the ethnic makeup of the country and globalism.

He didn’t advocate populism to replace the constitution. He deviated from conservatism only on globalism and trade.

Conservatism was a great idea. It lost. More likely, it forfeited, never even showed up to the fight. And when a couple of it's proponents did, most of 'em hid under the table quaking in fear of being called all the things they needed to be in order to survive.

As Milo Y. wrote in his recent article, there is a whole new generation on the right. You see them on reddit, Twitter, etc. The fight is theirs.

Trump is conveying conservative ideas in a way that’s appealing.

Like universal health care, TARP, amnesty, government surveillance, gun restrictions, eminent domain, subsidized ethanol, etc?

I think Palin is doing a favor for McCain by imploding the Trump campaign. That way the GOP elite can get their man Rubio in.

I think Reagan would argue that not to be true (except for the GOP didn’t want that part).

This nation is going to have to stare directly into the abyss before people wake up.

Trump is saying the same things Pat Buchanan said when he ran. He opposed NAFTA. America first, American jobs, don’t sell the country out. Buchanan said all that.

He a Democrat?

This is a great post, and Rush addressed some of this today.

There is GEORGE WILL conservatism, and there is TED CRUZ conservatism. Who is the true conservative? Where is the coherent ideology?

Our entire civilization is under siege and we’re debating how many Reagans fit upon a match head... We need to get real.

Let’s face it - anyone who supports Trump hates America and Jesus.

I couldn’t agree more. The lies of the “conservatives” we have sent to DC have all been in the name of the Uniparty.

Time to destroy that cabal. Then we can bring conservatism back to its original meaning.

Limbaugh didn’t call Trump a “Democrat.” What he said is that the people of America want Obama and the Marxist, Open-Borders Dems stopped and have no faith in the Cheap Labor GOP to do it. And the people know very well that Fox News and the talk radio “conservatives” and their hot air aren’t gonna stop Obama either.

What the people want is the anti-American Left and the Ruling Class GOPe stopped and they don’t care who does it as long as it gets done. No excuses.

And right now the people think Trump is the ONLY man with the stones and abilty to win against the enormous power of the Washington/Media complex and do it. Political “purity” means nothing.

Close the borders. Stop the illegal invasion. Or die.

That’s Election 2016 in a nutshell.

Well, it’s more like the self identified conservatives have alienated their voters, so they are looking for someone or something else. It’s perfectly rational.

They're not liberals

No...they're "progressives"! Call it what you want El Rushbo, they're either for constitutional government or their against it. By not standing Obama down, even empowering him, they are all "liberals" (or whatever term the commies have co-opted) to me!
