With DC on a decade plus spending binge, multiple theater wars, entitlement spending soaring, exporting jobs and manufacturing and taxing the crap out of producing citizens its amazing were afloat right now to even post about the subject of the economy.

I agree with you in general. One small caveat:
Wars don’t cost much at all. Nation-building does. And I was opposed to heavy-budget nation building. I bet Rumsfeld secretly opposed it too. He was a tight-wad.

It is. Other nations devalued their currency while we kept relying on quantitative easing. All it took was to raise interest rates a tiny fraction, and the dominoes started to fall.
