I remember some Freepers posting it was gonna wipe out most of the human population.

AFAICR, not even Revelation says that disease will kill “most” humans even in the Tribulation.

Even though I rationally pointed out the hyperbolic hysteria among some freepers, I was the proud recipient of an email that stated “F... O..”.
It's nice to see that this has abated, as usual, and that the overbearing “end of times” proclamations from several freepers did not come to pass.

Rotary International is about 70 cases of Polio away from eradicating it for good!
Unfortunately the muslims like polio. The car bombing in Pakistan yesterday that killed 18 was aimed at the folks who were preparing to immunize children in a poor corner of the country.

Thanks for being a voice of reason. I’m not a scientist nor a health care person, but to see these alarmist end of the world posts is scary but also annoying. I always appreciate seeing a voice of calm out there. Yes, it’s a horrible, horrible disease. I was definitely concerned that the Obama administration seemed so cavalier about it, but I did my best not to get my anxiety level up too much by listening to hype. I’m always reminded of this Tracey Ullman skit:

And if the world is gonna come to an end from disease, eruptions, meteors, or man there’s nothing little old me can do about it anyway.

I thought this would be a “who’s on first?” thread.

They just had a positive case in Sierra Leone last night. From a dead girl who had crossed the border from Guinea.

The two most amazing things about the epidemic were that except for a few minor cases, it DID NOT spread to Europe and America.
Secondly, that there was enuff outcry that a vaccine was developed. A 100% cure vaccine.
I guess the apocalypse was postponed this time... maybe not next time, though!
