A couple things needed noted from the post game...
After time ran out, the CBS sideline reporterette was trying to interview Ben...after about 20’seconds of interview, Coach Tomlin and at least three Cincinnati Police officers jog into the camera shot and Tomlin tells Roethlisberger he needs to “get off the field.”
He does.
On the local CBS station (kdka) a male sports reporter got to James Harrison as he was getting off the field. 92 was told (by someone I coaching staff) to also get off the field...and to put his helmet back on (as he approached the tunnel to the locker room.
I have NEVER seen (or heard!) those types of warnings (and escorts) given to players ON THE FIELD. And i grew up during the Steeler Raider rivalry.
If the NFL declines in ratings and popularity—this game will be considered the beginning of the end.
Ugly.
They also threw garbage on Roethlisberger as he was being taken to the locker room on the cart. So, evidently, the fans deserve the team they've got.
Glad you found the thread!!! I watched the entire game. The comments in the papers are going to be great. Wonder if Jim’s fish market guy is going to be ballistic!
BTW I noticed the same things you did at the end. Ben was forced off the field and Harrison had to put his helmet on. You could see him getting orders from people off camera.
Then there was the stuff being thrown on the field even before the game ended! Cincy had no class and deserved to lose!
There’s a video where they were carting Ben off after the shoulder injury and someone threw a water bottle at him.
