Bengals intercept a pass to seal the game. Promptly fumble it back to the Steelers. Then commit 30 yards of penalties in the final seconds to allow Pittsburgh the game-winning chip shot field goal.
I saw that game. I think I would have to agree.
Full disclosure, Tampa Bay fan who has hated the Steelers forever, because my Pennsylvania mom was an Eagles fan, so unless you wanted to be forced to eat scrapple, you hated the Steelers!
I’m a Steelers fan. Glad for them - hope Ben is able to play next week.
On the other hand, does anyone else get the impression that the NFL has become the world’s most expensive reality show? Nobody could be as stupid as Burfict and Jones and it not be written into a script.
Learn the game? It is not alright to go helmet to head on a receiver after he catches the ball and takes two steps. He can run twenty yards and it IS STILL illegal to ram your helmet into his jaw.
The Bengals have to be the dumbest team to ever put on shoulder pads!
I was at the game,a bunch of my friends left early, and couldn’t get back in.
Right now, the Browns and Cowboys aren't good enough to choke. You have to get into an important game to actually choke.
Did not really have a dog in this fight, but the Bengals had a couple of hot heads and fumble ruin a great comeback!
I gave up my Bengals season tickets in 1982, finally sickened to the point of hate, when they continued to find new, unique ways to lose games in the last two minutes. I’ve never had reason to regret my decision.
“Iâm rooting for Washington just because it will really upset Dingy Harry and his dark-skinned cousin Barrrack”
Hey that is good idea, except if Denver makes it to the Superbowl, then it is all Denver!
Who cares. Its all just a bunch of people from around the country playing the same. Not really cincy vs Pittsburg, and theses cities care much more for these teams than the teams care about them.
I haven’t seen anything like this in a LONG time. My beloved Bengals always figure out a way to lose prime time games, especially the first playoff game of every freakin’ year!
They got a hell of a “One and Done” streak going.
It is legal for helmet to helmet contact to occur between a player engaged in running the ball forward and a defensive player. How may times have you seen a running back lower his head and deliver a blow to a tackler, resulting in helmet to helmet contact? If you watch the replay, the defensive player’s helmet is at chest level, UNTIL the offensive player lowers his head slightly. He ceased being a receiver after he took two steps; you can’t have it both ways.
Hitting with a helmet is not allowed in the game today. Hell, in college it’s an immediate ejection. How is that not a penalty but the burfect hit is? The game is concerned about concussions, but helmet to helmet is not a concern on this play? Makes no sense. Burfect probably should get a penalty there but this type of play happens half a dozen times a week. He led with a shoulder and simply came in late. He should have pulled up, but it’s a millisecond difference. Not a crime of the century. It’s ridiculous to see all this fake outrage. a shoulder to the head might get called 50% of the time.
“It is not alright to go helmet to head on a receiver after he catches the ball and takes two steps.”
Burfict is probably auditioning to replace Lewis as the dirtiest player in the NFL, cut him some slack.
After the previous steeler turnover and having the ball with a minute and a half to go, I am sure the defense went to Devcon 5 when they went back in for the final drive. It was a game they had just won, until an idiotic fumble. That was the game mor or less. Give Ben a minute and a half to go 50 yards. He’ll get it most any day. He probably would have today too even without the help at the end. They were inside the 50 before the final costly penalties. Needed only 15 more to get to safe FG range.
Worth repeating. Exactly correct.
