Every couple of years I have a temper fit and smash a clock radio with my 22 oz. ball peen hammer.
We just lost another one tonight. I sent the most recent one to Hell, with a nice taste of my anger.
My wife will thank you all for a solid recommendation.
from when radios had class-
I had to read your post numerous times- I thought you were posting about building AR15 from receiver- and posted the wrong pic LOL getting late
“Every couple of years I have a temper fit and smash a clock radio with my 22 oz. ball peen hammer.”
Relax, all right? My old man is a television repairman, he’s got this ultimate set of tools. I can fix it.
“But, he’s funny how? Funny like a clown? he amuses you? He makes you laugh? He’s here to f***in’ amuse you?”
Heck, why not, MM. After the year I’ve had. I’ll take what I can get.
Lighten up Francis.
It’s my stuff, I can destroy it if I want to. I like to think of it as randomly rearranging the components into an unusable configuration.
Oh, there’s your problem right there...
Nothing a little Gorilla glue and duct tape won’t fix.
Apparently there is something out there called “Hi-Def” AM radio.
Sounds like “government help” or something else unpossible, but I’m told it is a real thing.
I started to apply a little english from a 24 oz. framing hammer, but I just like the way that 22 oz. ball peen swings.
Let’s just say I hit the snooze button :)
If you have to wake up for a marathon, make sure it doesn’t have a separate volume control for the alarm.
Just make sure you dispose of it in an “earth friendly manner.”
Ha ha.
Oh yeah, I wouldn’t want to do anything that wasn’t responsible :)
I went with a Sangean, the price was right and it will take an AUX input on 3.5mm plug like I already use. Be here Saturday:

Estwing 24 oz, use the claw and you can take out the table the radio is sitting on with one swing... ball peen is so pedestrian (almost Yankee) and inefficient. Ya must be an amateur or just like to swing harder multiple times.
PS Store that puppy in the Gun Safe with a “Hammer Lock” to keep folks in Chicago from killing each other.
Valid point.
I could have taken it down the street to TargetBastards and used the Mossberg, I guess. That would have had some style points attached.

It's excellent on AM. Very selective — you can listen to distant stations even if they are close to local stations.
Maybe too selective. It could use a wide setting for stations without a problem. Would improve the mid and hi range, thus helping intelligibility.
It also has excellent FM reception. My primary use of which is to set its clock via RDS. This enables the alarm feature to wake up precisely at the beginning of whatever AM show. Without RDS, its clock is not so good — gains about 4 seconds per day.
It's too big to fit in your pocket, but way smaller than a boom box (although, at close quarters, it is an adequate FM boom box).
It has an auxiliary input, so you can plug in your favorite podcast source (in my case an $18 media player).
Depending on usage patterns, it needs recharging every two or three weeks.
