Oh gee...that’s worse than what we’ve gone through. A full THREE weeks of it and I would surely lose my mind. :-(

I was just at the Garland range near you on Wednesday. A little windy, but fun nevertheless.

Glad you had fun. I've got a membership for the Garland range but I haven't been over there in some time. Since last year I've mostly been shooting at a private spot down in Seagoville.

I was really hoping to get some range time in over the long Christmas weekend, but mother nature had other plans. Now, my wife and I are trying to figure out what we can do to help our neighbors who've been hit by the tornado. Right now the authorities are asking us residents to just stay put and let them do their jobs.

Part two headed up from south of us this PM around 8. Another 5 to 8 inches possible. House is warm , took a ride in the 4x4 to access the height of the drifts and if plows don’t bust em by 5am monday...... snow day !!! Wind was so high and temperature was so cold half of lawn is still grass and 4ft drifts on other half.

9 degrees and 55mph winds forecast for tonight and tomorrow..

Great fun ....NOT !

Oh YUCK....sounds like what we had last winter. And we went through most of the stored wood we had, by the beginning of last April.

I just hope that you don't get a full winter of this!

Stay warm and stay safe !

My house and family are fine, but just two miles east of us, over 600 homes and structures are damaged or flattened.

We're waiting for word from the local authorities as to when we can go into the area to help. There's been a search and rescue effort going on in there all through last night and over the course of today. Things are so touchy and dangerous, they're not letting anyone in, so I hear.

My daughter works at a nearby fast food restaurant, and they're up to their eyeballs getting food out for the victims, emergency personnel, firefighters, and police.

Oh my, it just keeps getting worse, the more they look, I guess. This is just horrid and I have been praying for all, in Texas, since last night.

It's wonderful that everyone seems to be pulling together, though. And I hope that your daughter and her fellow workers are able to keep up with the demand.

Hope this morning finds you and your family well

Well, it's late afternoon now, but we're all good. Local authorities have asked all Rowlett residents to stay put at home unless they have a real need to go out. They're trying to keep the roads as clear as possible for emergency relief crews, etc.

So, we've just had a quiet day at home monitoring as much local news as we can find (which is harder than you'd think, given what just happened here).

Here are some pics of what it looks like two miles to the east of me:

The sheer volume of offers of assistance coming in, is pretty amazing. They're coming in from all over the state. Emergency personnel and police came in from as far away as Fort Worth, and Governor Abbott has sent one of the state's top emergency response units.

Texans truly do take care of Texans.

I live in Rowlett, and this is what I posted on another thread:

I just got out for the first time after the storm. Access is still restricted to certain areas of my neighborhood. My home, and the homes on my street suffered no damage. One block to the SE, houses had portions of the roof lifted off, and outside structures were badly damaged. Two blocks to the SE, homes had lost the second floor of their houses and all windows were blown out. Outside structures landed several houses away. Closer to ground zero, houses were totally destroyed.

I feel very blessed and very lucky right now. That’s one prayer I know for a fact was answered. Please pray for my neighbors’ recovery.

We lost our power when the tornado hit and it came on about 8:00 am. I was amazed at the devastation in my neighborhood, and its crawling with Emergency Services, Red Cross, volunteers and of course, gawkers.

That's amazing and wonderful ! What isn't "wonderful", is the very terrible disaster that has hit Texas.

I shall continue praying for all.

3 Weeks? Voof.

We’re in Garland, storms went up each side if our location but we just got a little rain, thankfully.

My wife has friends in Rowlett who lost power and decided to go to a hotel. Changed their minds but couldn’t get back into their neighborhood for cop roadblocks.

She Who Must Be Obeyed and I grabbed our favorite flashlights, paused “Gone With the Wind”, herded the cats into the bedroom and turned on the radar. TV and computer . I wandered the perimeter checking conditions for the next couple of hours. Got one good close thunderclap but otherwise, not much (Chuck chants everyways he can think of to say the words “thank you”) and currently showing 1.61” of rain.

Must be my good looks :)

Glad to hear that all you’re getting, so far, is rain.

My niece just emailed me that it’s snowing in Junction. Not sure how far west you are ;-)
