Our dog, Corky, was a rescue do when we got him at 10 weeks. He's very attached to my wife because she brought him home as a small puppy. He's a year and a half now old and has the run of our 30 acre cattle farm. But his favorite thing to do is to go to our lake house 10 miles away and swim in the lake. It's the only time he's ever been in a car..my wife's car... when she takes him over there.

Well, now he has separation anxiety when he sees her leaving in the car and hasn't been asked to go along. He will cry like a baby as he watches her leave in the car without him. But when she comes home, you can actually see a smile on his face when he sees her, so happy that she has returned. He'll sit down next to her and lean against her looking for affection after her absence.

He is such a good dog and companion to us. We have had many dogs and breeds of dogs over our 40 year marriage and each one has their own personality and character, just like people. Dogs really do have unique personalities and show the same range of emotions as humans do.

Yep, I don’t see the dog lapping at the master’s hand or rubbing against his or her leg (next to, not on top).

To be fair the dog isn’t shying away from them or snipping at them either but it clearly likes getting as far away from the shelter and cage as possible.

I have a Mastador, half English Mastiff, half American Field Lab. He is my therapy dog, resident clown and the gentlest, easiest going dog I have ever had. My Daughter has a purebred Red-Nosed American Pit Bull Terrier for my grandson and that dog is a close second in temperament to my Mastador, I have no qualms whatsoever about that dog, but God help the person that tries to harm my daughter or grandson.

“Everyone who loves animals needs to adopt a shelter dog or cat. You’ll never regret it.”

True that - got our latest from the local big dog rescue. He’s still shy but is getting his confidence back.

Merry Christmas.
