I regularly donate cat and dog food to one of our local shelters here and,one time, they asked me if I wanted to come back and see the cats and dogs. I told them "No" because I know, from past experience, that I get all choked up and start getting "misty" because there are just so many of them and I can't take every single one and give them a loving home. Heck, I can't even go by the cages at the PetSmart for the same reason.
I have to leave the room or change the channel when the SPCA advertisement comes on that has the song by Sarah Mclachlan "In the Arms of an Angel".
I'd say at best he was half Pit and probably half Lab, and mixed breeds, AKA mutts are some of the best damn dogs on Earth.
I have three growing feral kittens that I've adopted and brought into the house. I had another, Mitzi, who lived with me for 17 years and got me through my wife's death from diabetes about 10 years ago; I had to Mitzi to sleep just before Thanksgiving when all of her organs started failing. It still hurts to think about it, but my other ones .. Gracie, Rhiannon, and Sera-Michael .. are helping me to get past the loss.
A pit bull puppy - pit bulls - the most misunderstood breed of dogs on earth.
Benny is a sweetheart!
“Not gonna do it.
Not clicking on HuffPo no matter what the story is.”
Here’s the exminer.com’s story on Benny.

Yes, they are. Pit bulls, not so much.
Seeing as this is Christmas, I will leave it at, we will just have to agree to disagree. Have a Blessed Christmas.
Unfortunately I do and I leave the store totally depressed........
My wish has always been to win the Power Ball lottery and then purchase a mega piece of property and staff it with personnel dedicated to the welfare of homeless animals............
He’s a darling. I’m glad he made it out of that place.
I'll second that
My little shelter dog - she came out of a hoarding situation of 125 dogs - is sleeping on my comfy chair right now. Everyone who loves animals needs to adopt a shelter dog or cat. You’ll never regret it.
Merry Christmas!
I’ll three it.
Agree completely. There is something to be said for keeping an eye on your enemy. However, huffpo for “feel good” stories? Really? Doesn’t huffpo derive revenue from every web visit?
Looked like a pit/black lab mix. Might be OK
All of our animals are rescues or foundlings. I am on the board of our local animal shelter & will be going there tomorrow morning to wash & dry towels & blankets & soft toys & wash poopy bowls;). Am going to pick up some sausage biscuits for the workers.
Bless you for having a shelter dog. We have rescued scores of hoarder & breeder dogs. There’s a special hell for people who treat animals horribly. Just got back from the lake w/ our puppy who showed up last January & never left........maybe it was the petting & the bones! Merry Christmas w/ your fur baby!
I have learned that is every animal lovers fantasy.
When I said we have rescued I meant our shelter, although we have rescued our fair share too!
One of our volunteers at the German Shepherd Rescue of Orange County (CA) gave up her Christmas Eve to save a puppy found stranded without food or water in the CA desert. He will be available for adoption soon.
My older dog, whom I adopted at about nine weeks of age, was supposed to be half Black Lab and half Great Dane, but turned out to be half Pit. He’s been with me for nearly ten years and is the funniest, friendliest, silliest, most self-confident and assertive dog I’ve ever adopted. This guy looks like just as much of a sweetie. My younger dog’s a Great Dane and the older one, the Pitador, accepted him immediately. They’re a great pair.
That's doesn't look like a Pitt.
It drives me nuts when people get a dog from a breeder. With SO MANY dogs and cats sitting in shelters, they go get a pet at a business that makes more dogs and cats so that they can say they have a "chocolate lab" or a "German shepherd" or whatever.
Having a pet is mostly about taking care of the animal, not about your personal vanity.
