That was the first thing that popped into my mind, too. Something along the lines of Obama, Mao, Lenin, Stalin being con substantial fellow travelers.
“Consubstantial” — some English words just don’t roll mellifluously off the tongue, do they? I think the popularity of words depends somewhat on their musicality to the ear and “Consubstantial” gets an F in that department.

Q. In the Nicene Creed, why has “one in being with the Father” been changed to “consubstantial with the Father?”
A. The new translation is more in keeping with the ancient Latin text of the Creed and a more accurate translation.
We have been tripping over that woord for several years now.

See #7. The Catholic church pulled this one out of the hat a couple of years ago. We say it at every Mass, but it doesn’t come easy.
To: afraidfortherepublic
Sorry but consubstantial was pulled out of a 2000 year old hat.
It is an accurate translation of the original Latin.
We were just saying wrong for a long time and finally got it right.

T’wasn’t English. We didn’t used to say the Creed in English. So, it’s new to the vast majority.
To: afraidfortherepublic
Exactly! Saying that out loud has to trip the tongue every time!

The Vatican finally reviewed the American English translation and ordered the change. So the whole country adopted the new language. A++ A Chirstmas star for you.

This was a live human and I’d already hung up
On him once yesterday. I realize charities are looking for $ at the end of the yr but honestly people are already strapped bc of the holidays. Every school my kids have ever attended sends a solicitation at this time of year. Ridic.

I expected only evidence unsubstantial
From dems to show why they are presidential
But when it comes to she
Who takes her time to pee
Her platform is pretty much consubstantial
